Strong Santa Ana winds spread the car

multi-millon dollar homes.

Most residents were allowed back home
this morning ... though several

returned to find damage the
firefighters couldn't stop.

(nats)

the fire has already charred more than
2-thousand acres. 800

firefighters working to beat back the

flames have it 80-percent

contained. ..

The ravines in the area are making it
difficult to fight ... and so is

the weather.

(Chief Ed Fleming, Orange County Fire

"They expect gusty winds to pick up
again today, they expect the

relative humidity to drop and the
temperatures to climb. All of those

work against the firefighters."

More extreme conditions make containing
the fire today less likely.

And a red flag alert posted in Southern
California means the danger of

more fires remains high.

Fox Sports It's safe to say that Casey :00 Mears and Robby Gordon don't like the
new Vegas surface. Those two spun out
on Goodyear's hard tire to bring out
the caution.

Then later it's Kyle Busch
riding the merry go round nearly
causing a huge pileup.

It might be a new track but it
was the same old Jimmie Johnson who got
past Jeff Burton late and held on for
the win. He overcame a pit road
penalty and led 89 laps on the way to
his 3rd straight UAW Daimler Chrysler
win--it was also the 150th Nascar win
for Hendrick Motorsports. Johnson's
teammate Jeff Gordon came home 2nd.

About 3,000 troops gathered at a
fitness center at Camp Zama, south of
Tokyo.

Jackson was greeted by applause
as he entered the gymnasium.

The singer walked around shook
hands with his fans, exchanged words
and thanked them for their service.

Reading from a statement Jackson
told the troops they were the 'most
special people in the world.'

He added, we enjoy our freedom
because of the sacrifices made by
American soldiers.
