More than 3 years after the suspected
mastermind of the 9-11 attacks was
captured in Pakistan.. Khalid Sheikh
Mohammed is said to be confessing.

"I was responsible for the 9-11
operation from a to z."
That extraordinary admission was read
at hearing last weekend at
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where a U-S
military tribunal is getting ready to
bring charges against Mohammad.
KSM, as he is known among government
officials, also confessed to
planning and supporting 31 terrorist
attacks..including the 19-93
bombing of the World Trade Center..the
bombing of a nightclub in Bali
that killed 200 people and the
unsuccessful attempt by shoe-bomber
Richard Reid to bring down an American
jetliner.
According to a hearing transcript
released by the pentagon , KSM
spoke briefly in broken English and
also made the stunning confession
that he was the one who beheaded Wall
Street Journal reporter Daniel
Pearle.

Mohammed�s confession also listed
numerous plots that never unfolded..
including plans to assassinate both
President Carter and President
Clinton.
In addition, there were plots to
attack then Sears Tower in Chicago,
the Empire State Building in New York
and the Panama Canal.
Mohammad claims he was tortured by the
CIA after his capture, but says
he was not under duress in Cuba when he
admitted his role in the
various attacks that have killed
thousands of people.
After the confession was read for him,
Mohammad was asked if he was the
author of the document.. he
reportedly said..that�s true.

Afghanistan appeared in a video
yesterday asking officials to work for
his release.

The journalist appears
alone....with his shoulders and the
back of his head covered with a plaid
shawl or scarf.
The Taliban claim they kidnapped
the journalist on March fifth, along
with two Afghans who were traveling
with him.
Italy has been resisting NATO's
calls to increase its troop numbers in
Afghanistan, saying it is already
committed to other peacekeeping
missions, including a leading role in
Lebanon.
Rome has some 1,800 troops in
Afghanistan.

Wild Shootout in New York City.

It began at DeMarco's Pizza in
New York's Greenwich Village.
The gunman, 32-year-old David
Gavin shot an employee in the back 15
times before fleeing the premises.
Two NYPD auxiliary officers were
shot after they pursued the gunman.
Responding police officers
swarmed the middle of the street and a
hail of gunfire erupted.
Witnesses say it was a wild
scene.

captured a surfer being bitten by a
shark on Delray Beach, Florida.

Gregory Kuehlewind and a friend
had been kite surfing before going out
fishing for sharks in a kayak.
After catching a five foot shark,
Kuehlewind was trying to remove the
hook from the shark's mouth, when he
got bitten.
He said he felt the shark's teeth
sunk all the way to the bone very
quickly.
Kuehlewind said he didn't want to
harm the sharks, but just to catch and
release them.
