Last Week Whether it's by phone... through
the mail - or over the internet... if a
financial opportunity sounds too good
to be true, it probably is.

That was one of the messages
Attorney General McDonnell shared with
the newly-formed Financial Crimes Task

Force.

Prevention is a critical aspect
of reducing identity theft.

There are also plenty of
anti-scammer laws on the books in
Virginia, but the new joint-effort is
focused on coordinating the
investigations and better-determining
whose jurisdiction the crimes fall
under.

But McDonnell says, even with the
new regional task force in place,
cracking down on the scammers is
extremely difficult.

The board of supervisors has voted
to hold a public hearing that day on a
new ordinance the county is considering
that would severely restrict the use of
biosolids.

A local citizens group has been
pressuring the board for months to do
something about the issue ... they
claim corporations are being given more
rights at the expense of the residents'
health.

If it passes, Campbell would be the
first Virginia locality to restrict
biosolids.
