recall, came as something of a surprise

the hook about their home heating
bills.

Now, the general assembly has no
say when it comes to Appalachian
Power's proposed rate increase.

That's in the hands of the State
Corporation Commission.

But after doing some research and
finding out that some heating bills
have gone up as high as 35 percent,
Carrico decided it was time to help
folks oppose the increase.

He created a website, where you
fill out a form and let the S-C-C know
that you believe the increase is

The delegate says the complaint
goes directly to the S-C-C.

already received 26-thousand
complaints.

Carrico says he thought it was
his duty to help give Virginians a
place to formally lodge their
complaints.

The company says rising expenses

are forcing them to pass some of the
costs along to customers.

The commission is expected to

this area off Route 220 just across
from the Quickette Food Market for the
next several days trying to clear up
this diesel fuel spill that hampered
the morning commute.

keep them away from the area.

And as a precaution, Ellis is now
using bottled water because all of her
water comes from a well.

The health department is running

well water but at this point it is too
early to know.

hotel last year.

been to the market area in the last
year, and they go there for dining more
than any other single reason.

Valley residents this week when they
last visited. Almost two-thirds said
within the last few months, and 84 per
cent within the last year.

As for their main reason for
going: 41 per cent said the dining, 24

accident involving a VDOT truck and two
other vehicles this afternoon.

Route 460, near the eastern edge of
Lynchburg.

State Troopers say a pickup
truck hit a vehicle in front of it,
then clipped the front corner of the
VDOT truck.

The pickup spun off the road
and overturned.

The driver was taken to
Lynchburg General Hospital.

No one else was injured.
