Corps of Cadets laid a wreath at the
national D-Day Memorial in Bedford.
They took a walking tour of the
memorial and listened to first hand
accounts from a veteran who fought on
the front lines.
Organizers say this experience

expect.
It also helped drive home the

next step toward bridging a gap that
has been around for a while.

The Clements Mill Bridge on Route
6-87 has been closed for some time due
to maintenance concerns.
VDOT is finally giving the county
permission to build a new single-lane

The old bridge used to connect
the Red Valley area to the Wirtz and
Burnt Chimney communities.
The hope is, that the new
thoroughfare will enhance travel.

search for them.
The Coast Guard and another

Elizabeth Edwards thought she was
cured from breast cancer but it now
it's returned this time in her bones.
Doctor Lee Tucker says all breasts
cancer have the potential to spread to
the bones.
He says once this happens there is
only a 15 to 20 percent chance of
survival. He points out if its caught
when it's still in the breast --the
chances of survival are over
90-percent. He says this should be a
wake-up call for other women.

circus rolls into Henry County to the
Martinsville Speedway for the Goody's
Cool Orange 500.
One of the favorites to win the
race and the $11 thousand dollar
Grandfather Clock that serves as the
trophy, has to be Chesterfield native
Denny Hamlin.
He finished second at
Martinsville last fall and has always
been a fan of the half mile track.

Hokies tried to take their second game
in three days from the 4th ranked North
Carolina Tarheels.

UNC pounded out 17 hits

13 over the Hokies by a final of 13 to 1.
