RACHEL DEPOMPA: The Sheriff's office is
reminding everyone if you see standing

May 2005 U.S. Airways announced this
morning it would immediately be cutting
back prices on walkup fares at Roanoke
Regional Airport.

Frequent flyers buying a last
minute ticket can expect to see fares
reduced by as much as forty-nine
percent starting today.

The Roanoke airport reduction
affects 22 destinations coast to coast.

U.S. Airways hopes the price drop
will keep Roanoke travelers from
resorting to airports in larger cities.

(END SOT) And their rides come in all shapes and

sizes.

Since Saturday...race fans have been
pouring into the track's campgrounds.

Fans...like Roger and Nicole Genest
(J-day) drove all the way from Quebec,
Canada.

09:03"THE HOSPITALITY HERE IS VERY,
VERY, GOOD. IT'S A SMALL TRACK. IT'S

SMALL OFFICE, THE PEOPLE ARE VERY NICE
FOR US. I LIKE THIS TRACK FOR
THAT."09:13

For a few days....the Genests (J-days)
will bunk here....a converted van now
bedroom slash kitchen.

It's a way of life the Martinsville
track embraces.

02:11"IT'S A GOOD FAMILY ATMOSPHERE,
PEOPLE KIND OF HAVE REUNIONS HERE.
THEY MEET PEOPLE FROM THE RACE BEFORE
AND THEY HAVE THE SAME SPOT TIME AND
TIME AGAIN.02:19

SU 18:04"HOWEVER SOME OF THESE VEHICLES
ARE LITTLE MORE HOMEY AND HIGH
TECH."18:0

Check out Denise and Jim D'Andrea's
ride.

They've got just about everything...so
they'll never have to leave.

14:36'OH IT'S NICE...GETTING AWAY FROM
ALL THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE AT HOME WITH
THE BUSINESS AND STUFF LIKE THAT. IT'S
NICE TO GET AWAY FROM EVERYTHING. NO
TELEPHONE, WELL WE HAVE CELL PHONES,
JUST ONLY WHEN WE WANT TO"14:46

But the best part about staying at the
track for a few days is just
that...being there.

13:32"I LIKE THE WAY OF LIFE. I LIKE
THE PEACEFULNESS, THE COOKOUTS, THE
BEER AND THE CAMPER.13:38

09:41"WE STAY HERE IN THE SUN. DRINK
SOME BEER, HAVE SOME
LUNCH....LAUGH...09:45

And enjoy some R and R..or at least
until the engines start.
