in Lynchburg and Richmond will stay in
the state budget, according to Governor
Tim Kaine's office.

The governor also clarified
language in an eminent domain bill,
saying a locality may only condemn
property to promote specific public

It's viewed as a time to

for area Red Cross volunteers was the
rush to action to help the victims of
Hurricane Katrina.

Central and Southwest Virginia
sent several helpers to the Gulf Coast

scenes in local communities that make a
big difference in the lives of many
that go un-recognized.

The Red Cross also helps in
supporting family members of military
personnel.

And as Whittaker mentioned, the
active disaster program assists
families who are the victims of fires
and floods.

With the number of homes that
burned this winter, the Red Cross has
depleted many of the funds available
for the program.

So financial support is needed in
that department.

Blood supplies are also low right
now in our area.

Currently the Appalachian Region
is at approximately 2 days of overall
blood inventory and just over 1 day
supply of type O blood.
