suspicious death of a local minister.

It happened in the Snow Creek
section of Franklin County.

scene all afternoon and well into the
night trying to piece together exactly
how the victim died.

VO NAT She is 60 year old Nancy Copin
(COPE-in) who is the minister of Snow
Creek Christian Church.

We understand this morning two
members from the church went to her
home on Snow Creek Road to check up on
her.

When they opened a back door

they saw blood and called 9-1-1.

Investigators say they don't
believe this was a suicide, therefore
at this point are treating her death as
supicious.

Franklin County Commonwealth's
Attorney Cliff Hapgood was on the scene
this afternoon, he declined to comment
on the case.

I had a chance to talk to one of
the church members. He told me Copin
lived alone and had only been the
minister for about two years.

When I asked if knew why anyone
would want to hurt her, he said the
congregation is completely baffed.

GRAPHIC=News-7 at 10 Searchers in Bedford County have

recovered the boat that was involved in
yesterday's deadly accident on Smith
Mountain Lake.

But they have not found 44- year-
old David Reynolds who disappeared when
the boat went down.

Twelve hours after search teams
launched their boats, they returned to
the ramp this evening.

They were towing the 33-foot Emerald
Isle III, a 2007 replica of an antique
ski boat.

Divers located the craft earlier
in the day, and used lift bags and
tanks of compressed air to raise it to
the surface.

Despite an extensive day-long
search using a state police helicopter,
boats and dive teams, authorities were
unable to locate Reynolds.

The boats will be back on the
water tomorrow using side scan sonar to

check out shallower areas near the
shore.

But authorities say the area
where the boat went down is very deep
and conditions very dangerous, so they
do not expect divers to return to the
water tomorrow.

fast-moving brush fire kept Lynchburg
crews busy for several hours this
afternoon.

The blaze was reported around 12:15
near the railroad tracks along Carroll
Avenue.

The fire spread quickly through a
ravine, and authorities were forced to
shut down rail traffic as they tried to
bring it under control.

About two acres of brush were
burned, along with two railroad ties.

Close to 30 firefighters were
involved in the operation.

Christian activist for littering.

The pair was accused of trying to

The salmonellla bacteria sickened

you from neck injuries in a rear crash.

Institute for Highway Safety, only 22

of 75 vehicles got their top score for
head protection in rear crash tests.

Audi, Volvo, and Subaru did well.

They each had three models make
the list.

A spokesman for Toyota criticized
the test, saying it doesn't take into
account other safety features that
diminish the impact on the head and
neck.

its own to coach the Mountaineers
basketball team.

Bob Huggins, a Morgantown native
and WVU graduate, will leave Kansas
State and return home to coach the
Mountaineers - with the official
announcement set for tomorrow.

Huggins led Kansas State to the

NIT this past season, but he is leaving
the program after only one season.
Huggins also won 399 games in 16
seasons at Cincinnati before resigning
under pressure in August 2005 after a
highly publicized DUI arrest.

Memorial in November.

Inside, crews are dropping the
ceiling and have taken out an entire
wall to more than double the size of
the large ballroom -When it's all said
and done the facility will be able to
hold 350-people.

Outside, more parking,
landscaping and even a monument to
Roanoke County and Vinton veterans will
be featured.

Work on the three-million dollar

renovation project is ahead of schedule
and construction is expected to be
completed by early October.
