Lynchburg crews busy for several hours
this afternoon.

The blaze was reported around 12:15
near the railroad tracks along Carroll
Avenue.

The fire spread quickly through a
ravine, and authorities were forced to
shut down rail traffic as they tried to
bring it under control.

About two acres of brush were
burned, along with two railroad ties.

Close to 30 firefighters were
involved in the operation.

sail into the headlines.....1200
passengers, mostly Americans, were
safely evacuated after a Greek Cruise
ship hit into rocks...
