Police now say the death of a
local minister was homicide.

An autospy shows Nancy Copin died
from blunt force trauma.

It happened in the Snow Creek
area of Franklin County.

The Sheriff's Office first
learned there was a problem yesterday
morning.

At this point, they have several
leads regarding suspects.

feet in front of Jeremy Scott Terry's
S-U-V.

He was obeying the speed limit, not
driving recklessly. But he WAS under
the influence of alcohol.

Eventually that night he admitted he'd
just come from Hooters. His
blood-alcohol level at the time of the
crash may have been as high as
point-2-3...nearly three times the
legal limit.

driving under the influence.

Because the 26-year old community
College Student admitted his guilt
under a plea agreement, the prosecutor
summarized the evidence for the judge
that she would have presented at trial.

OQ= The plea agreement calls for Terry's


conviction on the D-U-I charges.
Manslaughter charges will be dropped.

He'll serve six months in jail. If he
qualifies for work release, Terry may
be allowed to spend the night in jail
and go to work during the day for those
six months.

He'll have to pay a 25-hundred dollar
fine, undergo alcohol and drug
counseling if that's deemed
appropriate. He looses his license for
a year and will have a restricted
license for another year.

The prosecutor said the case
underscores the dangers of driving a
motor vehicle after having consumed
alcohol.

Tonight, authorities in Bedford
County say they've done everything
they're equipped to do.

Craft from the lake last night. It's a
2007 replica of an antique ski boat,
and investigators say it will give them
clues to what happened on the water.

Today, they said they DO NOT
believe that alcohol or drugs

fatal house fire in Giles County.

Family members tried in vain to
rescue Rowena Burton from her home last
night.

The 70 year old woman was on an
oxygen tank and investigators believe
that may have fueled the flames.

Two other family members were
taken to the hospital; one with burns
and one with smoke inhalation.

The home was a total loss.

The sheriff's office is still
investigating, but deputies believe the
fire was accidental.

Some residents of an local
retirement home got a scare this
morning when heating and air
conditioning equipment on the roof
caught fire.

Someone noticed flames
coming from the roof of Richfield
Retirement Center in Salem around 5:30.

Some residents were moved
from the top floor of the building.

Investigators say the fire
caused about 200-thousand dollars in
damage to the equipment on the roof.

closer to reality today.

The controversial plan got
approval from the Federal Highway
Administration. That means V-DOT can

begin design work on the highway that
will eventually link Roanoke with North
Carolina.

Estimates for design and
construction top four-BILLION dollars.
Currently, only some 13-million is
allocated for I-73 in V-DOT's six-year
improvement plan.

Christiansburg asked the Attorney
General to issue an opinion on the
matter.

He plans to propose a bill next January
that would tighten state laws about
permit holder's private information,
but he also plans to protect the State
Police's right to use that information
for investigations.

farm....

But commissioners want to hear
how the impact on birds and bats will
be monitored... AND... how the company
plans to keep large numbers of the
flying mammals from getting killed.

Other states with wind farms
adjust their hours of operation during
migratory seasons.

The hearing is set for July 17th
and will be webcast on the S-C-C's

Town council voted to sell Hogan
Dam to a local developer.

The 400-thousand dollar deal
includes 17-hundred wooded acres and a

41-acre lake.

The dam is in danger of failing,
and the state wanted the town to pay
the 800-thousand dollars it would take
to fix it.

The deal allows Thornspring Group
to assume responsibility for the
structure. It will build homes on the
property.

Friday Football Extra - 1987 Dana Palmer, who was a player of :00 the week back in September of 1987 -
died of cancer in 2001 - in his early
30's.

Palmer was only five feet two
inches tall, but he rushed for more
than 2 thousand yards in his senior
year.

This weekend many of his
former teammates and area celebrities
are playing a little basketball to help
raise money for the Dana Palmer
Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The game tips-off at Radford High
