A water main break has slowed
down traffic in Roanoke.

This Morning Officials with the Virginia Water
Authority say the break happened at
around one o'clock this morning along
the 1600 block of Orange Avenue.

The water is back on and the
repair has been made.

However, one eastbound lane will
remain closed for another few hours
while crews finish working.

Drivers should expect delays.

Saunders died after he lost control of
his patrol car and crashed into trees
on Johnson Mountain Road near
Huddleston.

:05 Prosecutors have charged the
woman who started the pursuit with
second degree murder.

Heather Lynn Bush was not at the
scene of Saunder's crash, but officials
say it was her actions that led to the
deputy's death.

responders from across the state,
family and friends all gathered at
Altavista High School where Jason
Saunders was remembered for his passion
for life and desire to serve other
people.

For Saunders, it was the
fulfillment of a life-long dream to be
a deputy with the Campbell County
Sheriff's Department. At 18, he tried
to enlist with the agency but found out
he was too young, but when he was
eligible, he returned and had served
there the past 3 years.

served as volunteer with the Altavista
Fire Department.

He had been with the agency since
16 when he started out as a junior fire
fighter.

driving may have contributed to a fatal
accident on I-81 early Saturday
morning.

Lynn Chesney of Waynesboro was driving
south near the Dublin exit when she
left the highway, hit an embankment and
flipped her car.

Chesney died around 3:30 at

that left a Roanoke county couple and
their son without a home, but the
damage estimate tops six figures.

question a few more people about the
fire which happened around six Friday
night on Nicholas Hill Lane.

That's in the North Lakes
subdivision near Peters Creek and Cove
Roads.

When crews arrived, they were

tops 300-thousand dollars.

additional property next to the town
hall.

since at least last summer.

Yesterday, the shop shut its
doors for good after more than 32 years
of business.

The owner says plans are still in
the works to sell it to the town.

In January, the mayor said this

planning and engineering departments.

The transformation project would
carry a price tag of four million
dollars.

bacteria. The plan is to eventually
screen all patients at the hospital.

Carilion says research has shown this
step could reduce the transmission rate

temperatures hit most of the state,

one NATO soldier and wounded another

today in southern Afghanistan.

The bomb went off Sunday morning
but officials are not releasing any
further details at this time.

This latest violence comes days
after more than one thousand NATO and
Afghan troops retook a major province
in the country.

The next step will be for NATO
forces to hand over control of the area
to Afghan security forces.

The operation is part of NATO's
largest ever offensive in Afghanistan.
