Tonight, Jonathan Utin is accused
of raping a girl back in the 1970's.

The news comes just one month
after Utin pled guilt to raping a 12
year old girl in Ohio.

Blacksburg teacher.

Tonight, he stands accused of
raping a 12 year old girl more than 30
years ago.

A grand jury in Christiansburg

indicted Utin on 10 counts of statutory
rape.

The indictment says the abuse
happened between June 1st 1970 and
March 31st 1971.

Utin taught math and science at
Blacksburg Middle School before
retiring a few years ago.

All we know about the alleged
victim, is she would now be 48 years
old.

not she was Utin's student.

Utin pleaded guilty last month in
Ohio to raping another 12 year old
girl.

Finch plans to bring Utin back to
Virginia shortly after his hearing on
Tuesday.

Charles Cobler arrived in
handcuffs at the Franklin County jail
from Ohio around 3:30 this afternoon.

Sheriff Quint Overton told us
just before newstime Cobbler has now
been charged with the murder of Snow
Creek minister Nancy Copin.

He's was brought back other
charges unrelated to the case.

One of those includes felony
theft for failing to pay for fuel when
he was gassing up his car.

extended family members and they told
us they're weren't surpised at all that
he's a suspect in this murder case.
One even called him the "bad apple" of
the family.

But others told us they didn't
get that impression of him at all.

regular customer and friendly person.

Very polite every time he came
into the convienence store.

But they do say he was out of
character last Tuesday morning.

According to the clerks, Cobler
walked in, got gas, said he'd left his
wallet at home and would come right
back to pay.

The clerks didn't think anything
of it because he'd done that before but
this time he didn't come back.

Then they realized a few other
things weren't quite right.

us this gas station was Cobler's last
stop before he fled to Ohio.

Roanoke County killed a man today.

At around 10:42 this morning a
car ran a stop sign at the intersection
of Rome and Crumpacker Drives.

Pearl Hoffman was driving her
Buick when she went through the
intersection, went up an embankment,
and overturned.

Her husband, Leon Hoffman was
pronounced dead at the scene.

Pearl Hoffman was taken to
Roanoke Memorial Hospital and is listed
in fair condition.

Police are still investigating
the cause of the accident.

Both were wearing their
seatbelts.

say they've found the skeletal remains
of a Virginia man.

The Sheriff's office in
Caswell County North Carolina says the

remains were found off Highway 700 near
Pelham.

Family members identified
the clothing and personal effects as
those belonging to 50-year-old Willard
Proffitt of Cascade in Pittsylvania
County.

Foul play is NOT suspected.

in Virginia restaurants is officially
dead.

Today, Governor Tim Kaine
vetoed a bill he'd already tried to
amend.

restaurants unless they posted "smoking

allowed" signs.

The General Assembly last
week rejected Kaine's amendment that
would have banned smoking outright.

Bolling tells News 7 he got the
idea for the tour from Florida.

The lieutenant governor will
collect ideas this year, make a
blueprint from them next year, and
present them in 2009.

He is expected to seek his
party's nomination for Governor that
year, but says he'll share the ideas no
matter what happens.

the Hokies had to deal with on the
field as an opponent during his college
playing days will not be taking the
field this season in the N-F-L. Adam
Pac-Man Jones has been suspended for
the entire upcoming season by N-F-L
Commissioner Roger Goodell for numerous
violations of the league's personal
conduct policy.

VO-NAT The Tennessee Titan Cornerback

seems to have trouble follow him, He
has been interviewed 10 times by police
since he entered the N-F-L. The latest
run-in with the law came at the N-B-A
All-star game. Jones was involved in a
fight and shooting at a Strip Club that
paralyzed a man. Police in Las Vegas,
where the All-Star game occured, have
recommended that felony and misdemeanor
charges be filed against Pac-Man for
that incident. The Cornberback could
be reinstated after 10 games if he
adheres to a strict set of conditions
that the N-F-L set for him including,
clearing up his legal issues.

Cinncinnati Bengals also received a
suspension from the Commissioner.
Henry will have to sit out 8 games.
The Wide Receiver didn't hit double
digits in his involvement with the Law,

he was only arrested 4 times in 14
months. Those transgressions drew a
2-game suspension and benchings from
his Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis.
Henry can take part in Training Camp
and play in the Pre-season Games for
the Bengals, he then must stay away
from the Cinncinnati Facilites during
his suspension.
