look at two controversial shopping
centers planned for our area.

While opposition to one of them
has been going on for years, the fight
over the other is just getting started.

Keagy Village Project in Roanoke

It will be built at the corner of
Route 419 and Keagy Road next to
Allstate Insurance.

You may remember, neighbors
bitterly fought this project arguing a

retail shopping center is inappropiate
for a residential neighborhood.

But here it is three years later
and it's still not open.

after another and they're not over yet.

needs a building permit but more
importantly it needs tenants,
specifically an anchor store.

As you can see, crews have been
busy the last few months clearing the
land for what's being described as a

highscale shopping center.

Kahn Development says it will
consist of speciality shops and an
office complex.

So far, Starbucks and a
restaurant called Bone Fish Grille have
agreed to locate to Keagy Village.

However, the developer still
hasn't found a small higher end grocery
store.

Kahn Development partly blames
the addition of Fresh Market and
Ukrop's to the area for the holdup.

Even so, the project is still a
go and the developer hopes to have some
of the retail shops open by the end of
the year.

Yes Natasha, turning lanes will
be added to 419 and there will also be
upgrades made to Keagy Road.

Natasha, some of that roadwork
should begin in the next six months.

to protest a big box store.

The protesters were outside,

problem too -- because the museum of
the Confederacy is running out of room.

Forcing leaders to look at new
options.

their area...including Lexington.

Community and business leaders
want the museum to relocate to the
historic courthouse in the downtown
area.

That property will be available

more tourists would visit the area and
bring in nearly a million dollars in

syndicated radio show host.

The Wilmington Star News is
reporting 50-year-old Danny Alvis was
killed in a plane crash on its way to
Danville.

Alvis was piloting the
experimental aircraft when it crashed
just 12-miles south of Danville in a
wooded area near Farmer Lake.

The experienced pilot was
supposed to land at the Danville

North Carolina authorities were
alerted.

Crews found Alvis and the
wreckage around 10:30 this morning.

The F-A-A is still investigating

suicide bomber who killed eight people
today was a bodyguard for a Sunni

lawmaker.

horse trapped in a mudhole.

Champ's owners found him stuck in
