Star News, 50-year-old Danny Alvis was
piloting his experimental aircraft when
it crashed.
Alvis is a financial guru who
hosts a weekly syndicated radio show.

plane left from Carolina Beach
yesterday and was supposed to arrive at
the Danville Airport yesterday
afternoon at 4:30.

authorities were alerted and several
teams searched until bad weather forced
them to stop.
They resumed the search this
morning and at about 10:30- crews found
the wreckage about 12 miles south of

say a man fatally shot himself as
deputies approached.
Just before 12:30 this morning,
a county deputy found a suspicious
person walking in the middle of Route
460 in Elliston.
The Sheriff's Department says as
the deputy approached, the man pulled
out a 22- caliber pistol and shot
himself in the head.
He died at the scene.
The suspect has been identified as
18- year- old Jacob Matthew Hooper
of Roanoke.
Investigators say he was facing
a felony carnal knowledge charge in
Roanoke.
State Police are now handling
any further investigation.

identified.

Police say just before nine
o'clock, Yates' red SUV crossed the
center line and went into oncoming

Sheriff's investigators say
someone stole a tractor trailer loaded
with 40-thousand pounds of copper wire.
The trailer was parked at
Hogan's One Stop on Route 58 and was
taken sometime between Friday evening
and Sunday morning.
