say a man who was placed under arrest
this morning pulled out a weapon and
fatally shot himself.

Around midnight, they received a
call about a suspicious person walking
in the middle of Route 460 in Elliston.

Police say the suspect was wanted
in a neighboring jurisdiction.

There's no word on the suspect's
identity or what he was wanted for.

State Police are now
investigating.

of killing a Franklin County pastor has
been revealed in a court document.

In a signed statement given by a
Franklin County investigator, Charles
Cobler confessed to robbing and killing
Nancy Copin at her home last Monday
night.

The statement goes on to say that
Cobler and the minister got into an
altercation before he hit her in the
face repeatedly.

Cobler was arraigned in court
yesterday morning on first degree
murder charges.

He's opted for a court appointed
attorney.

case who did not want to go through a
trial.

File Tape The retired Blacksburg teacher
was indicted by a Montgomery County

Grand Jury on Monday.

He faces 10 counts of rape of a
12-year-old girl that date back to the
1970's.

Commonwealth's Attorney Brad
Finch says several other victims asked
him not to prosecute their cases.

But Finch says he'd still
consider placing more charges against
Utin if anyone else comes forward.

Utin will be sentenced next
Tuesday in Ohio.

He pleaded guilty there, last
month to raping a 12-year-old girl.

County has left a 22-year-old dead.

intersection of route 11 and Gibson
Lane in Cloverdale.

Police say the man was driving a
red SUV when he swerved into the
northbound lanes, hitting the back of a
tractor trailer carrying industrial
ash.

The driver of the tractor trailer
was okay.

Police are waiting to release the
man's name after they've notified his
family.

is now a robbery suspect.

VO-NAT Investigators say 22-year-old


Laquan "La-Kwon" Pittman and three
other people broke into a Wythe County
home and held a man at knife point.


Police say they took a safe and
were caught a few hours later in Fort
Chiswell.

*CG nameloc Wythe Co. This home video shows Pittman as a April 2006 shooting victim nearly a year ago in a Home Video Wythe County murder investigation.

Pittman was shot in the back and
his girlfriend was killed in the
incident.

The home video was taken by a
neighbor.

Pittman is now in jail accused of
abduction, armed robbery and grand
larceny.

track down a robbery suspect in
Roanoke.

Officers were called to the
Suntrust branch in the 51-hundred block

of Williamson Road around 1:15
yesterday.

Investigators say the
suspected robber got away with money..
even dropped some..

Officers were seen picking up
bills around the bank's parking lot.

The suspect was found and
arrested a short time later at an
apartment on Tuckawana Circle.

He's been identified as
32-year-old Larry Irvin Hicks.

Police won't confirm how Hicks got from
the bank to the apartments.

Hicks has been charged with
robbery.
