guilty today to federal charges of
swapping prescriptions for crack
cocaine.

53-year-old James Stanley Ross of
Clarksville appeared in Danville's
federal court this morning.
He pleaded guilty to writing a
total of 23 prescriptions for drugs
including Oxycontin and codeine.
Ross was arrested January 17th in
the parking lot of the Danville K-Mart
store.
Authorities say he traded a
prescription for 60 doses of Oxycontin
for what he thought was crack cocaine
from a police informant.
Ross ... who suffers from multiple
sclerosis and is confined to a
wheelchair ... faces up to 45 years in
prison when he's sentenced later this
year.
His lawyers asked the judge that he
be held in a medical prison facility
where he can receive treatment for his
disease.

identity of a man killed in a
motorcycle crash last night.

of the Lynchburg Expressway near the
Graves Mill Road exit around 11.
21-year-old Josiah Richmond Rose
of North Java, New York was pronounced
dead at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating

sent an elderly woman to the hospital
this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses say the woman was
traveling South on Main Street when
another driver tried to make a U-turn
and clipped her.
The women hit a speed limit sign
and lost control of her car.
She ended up driving UP an
embankment and then hitting a tree.
She was taken to Montgomery
Regional Hospital.
No word on her injuries or on
charges tonight.

orders today.
They've been called to
active duty and are likely headed to
Iraq.
The units from the
Shenandoah Valley, Leesburg and

cruiser with a crew more than
13-hundred strong.
In service from 1947 to 1958, she
was a show boat, known for the
efficiency of her crew, and the way she
was outfitted and maintained.

Deputies were trying to serve
warrants on 37-year-old Calvin Lee
Wesley Senior when he went out the back
door of his North Coolwell Road home.
Wesley reportedly fought with a
deputy on the back porch before fleeing
into the woods.
Tracking dogs, a helicopter and
several police officers tracked him
down several hours later.
He's been charged with assaulting a
police officer, obstruction of justice
and property damage.
The deputy suffered minor injuries
to his arm and face.

the bridge at Carvins Cove, volunteers
are on their way.

Five horses and three mules were
used to haul 600-hundred bags of
concrete up the curvy path.
These pack animals can carry
about 200-hundred to three-hundred
pounds at a time.
The project to build the 28 foot
bridge is a joint effort between all
trail lovers.

The Wahoo's are coming off a season in
which they finished 5 and 7 and missed
out on going to a Bowl Game.
Al Groh is hoping that one bright
spot of last season is that the Cavs
found a starting quarterback in Jameel
Sewell. The Redshirt Freshman will not
participate in the Festival Tomorrow
due to off-season surgery on his
throwing wrist. But Sewell was able to
take part in more of Spring Practice
than originally thought.
