ENG#=4 VO-NAT

VO-NAT The Washington Post is reporting

that several kids that went to
highschool with Cho claim he was a fan
of violent video games...

In particular, this one, it's
called Counterstrike. It's a tactical
first person shooting game.....

*CG 2linel Courtesy It allows players to shoot with Gamespot semi-realistic weapons.....

We heard many students describe
Cho as calm, leading some to question
if video games had served as
preparation...

One of our viewers, posed this
same thought on our open
forum....Before this information was
even released, this comment was posted

on our website.

I bet they find in this
young man's home a bunch of "frag" type
first person shooter games - i.e. Halo,
Unreal Tournament, Counterstrike, etc.

This is such a frag fantasy come
true for this
man.(http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/Link.as
p?L=237911)

Now, in the gaming world, "frag"
refers to killing someone temporarily
in computer games.

Again, there are debates on both
sides of the fence when it comes to
linking violence in the real world to
violence in video games.

OQ=News 7 Sports." < (END SOT) unavoidable, but for a brief time, many

of the Hokie athletic teams are trying

to get back to the business of
competing. While they'll never forget
the events of earlier in the week,
getting back on the field of play has
been therapeutic.

PETER HUGHES/HOKIES BASEBALL COACH:

NATE PARKS/HOKIES OUTFIELDER:

The baseball team will be the
first varsity team back in action on
campus when it hosts Miami in the first
game of a three game set Friday at 7pm.

The softball team will follow on
Saturday with a Noon doubleheader
against Maryland, hopefully providing a
temporary escape from real life.

ANGELA TINCHER/HOKIES PITCHER:

SCOT THOMAS/HOKIES SOFTBALL COACH:

Both teams will honor the victims--the
baseball team with black socks and
under armour shirts, the softball team
by wearing black ribbons and possibly
helmet stickers with the number 32. In
Blacksburg, Travis Wells, News 7

File Tape Fellow Democrat Mac
McCadden was challenging Ware for the
party's nomination in the 11th House
District.

But in a news release
tonight, McCadden's campaign said due
to a technicality he won't be on the
ballot.

McCadden thanked his
workers and supporters.

The release did not say if
he intended to run as an Independent
candidate.

GRAPHIC=POWER OUTAGE Just a few thousand people are

still without power as the result of
powerful windstorms earlier this week
across central and southwest Virginia.

Winds that gusted up to 60 miles an
hour brought down trees and power lines
over much of our area, leaving
50-thousand power customers in the
dark.

American Electric Power has called
in crews from neighboring states to
help bring things back on line.

As of 10 o'clock tonight, only
23-hundred-50 people were still without
power, most of them in the Stuart and
Fieldale areas.

A-E-P hopes to have everyone
restore by Thursday night or Friday at
the latest.
