disaster management plan into place
when it first received word of the
Virginia Tech shootings.
But the death toll was much
higher than expected and the medical
center ended caring for only a handful
of survivors.

The Medical Director of the E-R
showed News 7 the x-rays of one of the
victims of Monday's shooting.
He had a bullet that landed less
than two inches from his brain stem.
This gunshot victim was one of
five people treated at Lewis-Gale on
Monday. Two of the victims were injured
with they jumped from a window in
Norris Hall.
While Doctor Dowling says all of
the patients treated here will recover
just fine. He is concerned about their
mental health.

left his roommate dead.
Ron Ragland was there when a
Roanoke Police officer fired the fatal
shot but he tells a different version
than an account given by the
department.

just days after the Virginia Tech
tragedy....several schools across the
country were threatened today...these
are just a few examples.

VO-NAT We start in California where
reports of an armed high school teen
shut down the school.
Moving into Arizona where a moment
of silence at the state Capitol in
Phoenix had to be moved because of a
bomb threat. Nothing was found.
Moving north, in Lincoln, the
University of Nebraska had a bomb
threat. Authorities are calling it a
hoax.
In Ohio, a Cleveland area high
school was closed following a Virginig
Tech style threat...
This too a hoax.....
But neither authorities nor
schools are taking any chances.

day thousands of Tech fans come to Lane
Stadium for the annual spring game.
It was canceled earlier in the
week, and instead Frank Beamer has been
meeting with families of hte victims
and survivors of this week's senseless
shootings.
Coach Beamer has seen the Hokie
Spirit in the injured, recovering
students - and this fall he knows he'll
witness it on Game Day.

couple of men who know all about Facing
the Giants.

Two of the movie's stars spoke
last night at the annual Fellowship of
Christian Athletes banquet in Salem.
