shootings at Virginia Tech.

Today, in Narrows....funeral
services were held for Jarrett Lane.
He was a senior majoring in civil
engineering.
His services were held at Narrows
High School.
While a student there, he
excelled in several sports including
basketball and football.
Jarrett had been accepted into
the Coastal Engineering Graduate
Program at the university of Florida.
He was 22-years-old.

Judge Diane Strickland is

graduates has donated a thousand
dollars to the Foundation for the
Roanoke Valley to start a school
violence assistance fund.
In just a matter of days, that
thousand has turned into 20-thousand
dollars as the community opens their
hearts.

victims of school violence as well as
their families.
The foundation has already given
four thousand dollars to one of the

83-year-old Henry County man has ended

Authorities found this man,
Harold Rorrer dead around noon today a
mile away form his home.
The Basset man was last seen
yesterday around 8 in the morning.
He suffered from Alzheimer's and
a heart condition.
Authorities aren't sure if this
played a role in his death but say
nothing looked suspicious when they
found him.

hosted their popular dog wash.
More than 200 of them pranced
away well groomed.
From a complete wash down to
nails trimmed and ears cleaned, pet
owners received the "top dog" treatment
for their four-legged friends.

But sports often has a way of bringing
folks together and aiding in the
healing process. The Hokies softball
team did its part today to help the
process.

took on Maryland in a doubleheader, and
the shooting victims were remembered
with tributes across the stadium.
The home team got 3 in the first.
Kelsey Hoffman gets down the bunt and
Caroline Stolle races in from third for
the game's second run.
Charisse Maraconda then went
back up the middle for a baseknock.
That brought home another run for Tech
as Stephanie Savre crossed the plate.
Angela Tincher struck out 9 in
5 and a third innings of work as Tech
held on

GRAPHIC=TECH The Virginia Tech women's track
and field team grabbed the ACC title
today in College Park, outdistancing
second place Miami 144.5 to 113. The
ladies also won the indoor title this
season.
In golf, Jay Hardwick's Hokies
are tied for fourth after day two of
the league tournament in Baden Lake,
North Carolina. Tech is at 1-under,
five shots behind leader Georgia Tech.
Nick MacDonald of Tech is tied for 4th
individually, just two strokes off the
lead.

in softball. Roanoke was eliminated
today by Eastern Mennonite 5 to 2. And
Lynchburg faced off with Bridgewater in
the semifinals.

In the top of the third, the
Eagles added to a 3 run lead. Mallory
Sandridge from Rockbridge legs out the

In the bottom of the inning, the
Hornets got three back with one swing.
Caroline Cubbage smokes this pitch over
the right field wall for a three run
bomb.
