As the Virginia Tech campus gets back
to a sense of normalcy, people from all
over are stopping by to look at the
memorials and to give money to the
Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.

The Virginia Tech Foundation which is
overseeing the fund says so far 80% of
the donations have been made over the
internet, somewhere in between eight to
ten thousand donors.
We're told workers are now just
getting to the money sent by mail.

the victims and their families.

Long term, Virginia Tech is taking a
wait and see approach on how to
disperse the rest of the funds.
The university first wants input from
the families and the college community.

Tech strikes, many are left wondering
if their loved ones are okay?

is notified but one website hopes to
end that lengthy wait.
Next of Kin dot org is a free
website that allows you to register who
you would like contacted in the event
of an emergency..
It proved useful during
Hurricane Katrina as close to 500
people were located in seven to ten
days through the website.....it's also
useful for agencies like the RedCross.
And of course, most recently, when
the website's data was opened up to
Virginia Tech police.
The organization is now working
with states... to soon have stickers on
every drivers license across the
country that would identify them as
being registered in the NOKR database.

GRAPHIC=VT REMEMBERS The Blacksburg community - not
just the Tech campus - has also been
reeling since last Monday.
Tonight - a big part of that
athletic world - the Blacksburg high
school soccer team opened up district
play against Pulaski.

VO-NAT The players not only had Tech on
their minds, but also on their backs as
the Bruins donned special Orange
jerseys with Maroon numbers tonight for
thier first game since April 3rd.
Late in the first half the Bruins
got on track as Michael Breske centers
the pass in front of the net and Matt
Becker heads it home for the first goal
of the game. 1-to-nothing Blacksburg.
It turned out to be the game
winner, but there were plenty more
where that one came from. Another
Becker goal on another header - this
one off of Michael Gallimore's corner
kick. It's 2-to-nothing.
The Bruins would eventually score
8 goals. Stephen Brewster - to
Gallimore to - Matt Becker who finds
brother Tim Becker.

Sean Singletary announced just before
five o'clock that he is giving up his
final year with the Cavs and entering
the NBA draft.

but he has NOT hired an agent yet, so
should he change his mind he could
still come back to UVA.
