Roanoke's school superintendent... that
announcement coming late this
afternoon.
Yesterday the superintendent was
saying his search for another job was a
"dead issue..." the chairman of the
school board insisting that the board
enjoys a "healthy relationship" with
Thompson.
Now it looks like that isn't the
case.

was unhappy with Thompson's recent
efforts to look for another job.

reached a mutual agreement in principle
that the Superintendent will leave the
school system after less than two years
on the job.
We understand the agreement is
scheduled to be signed on Monday, and
that's when we may get more details.
The school board chairman
realizes in the meantime, people have

that crashed near Penhook last year
broke up in flight.
The National Transportation
Safety Board has determined the
probable cause of the accident was the
pilot's failure to maintain control
during a climb.

Sept. 4, 2006 Randy and Erika Nash were killed
when the Cessna went down on September
fourth, shortly after leaving Smith
Mountain Lake Airport.
Investigators say the pilot's
failure to maintain control resulted in
exceeding the design stress limits of
the plane.
Shortly before the crash, the
pilot told an air traffic controller,
"we're kinda lost in some fog here...
and later, "I think we're upside down."
The NTSB determined that the
pilot's disorientation was also a
factor in the accident.

That's what a Radford judge said
today before postponing a murder trial
for the thrid time in a year.

delayed photographer Bob Shell's murder
trial after the defense said it didn't
have enough time to prepare for
Monday's trial.
The commonwealth found a
folder only days ago that had the names
of potential witnesses and an interview
with an alleged drug dealer.
Shell is accused of giving
his model, 19-year-old Marion Franklin,
a lethal dose of morphine after a June
2003 photo shoot.
The case has been delayed
several times before trial and has seen
two judges, two prosecutors and three
defense attorneys.

intermodal freight yard, but the city

take another look at the Colorado
Street site, a vacant parcel already
owned by the Norfolk Southern
Corporation.
Officials say the project would
drive redevelopment in Salem, and
benefit the entire Roanoke Valley, and

has decided to retire.
Just a few months ago, she
celebrated her 100th birthday.
But last year she broke her hip
and lately it's been harder for her to

trafficking cocaine.
Police say, maids found a kilo of
cocaine in the hotel room of 24 year
old Kia Drayton and the personal
trainer.
The Atlanta residents also face a
weapons charge after police say they
found two handguns in the S-U-V Drayton
was driving.
They're each being held on 2
point 2 million dollars bail.

Kaley Shoemaker is the one
inspired her school to start raising
money for the hospital in the first
place.
That's where she's spent the past
2 1/2 years getting treatment for
leukemia. But she's in remission now
and only has one more visit to complete
