don'ts"

FIRST START WITH SOUPS AND SALADS. BOTH
HELP YOU EAT LESS DURING A MEAL.

BUT NUTRITIONIST SHEAH RARBACK SAYS BE
CAREFUL.

(SOT- Sheah Rarback/Univ. of Miami)

"You want to steer clear of creams, and
bisques, and very heavy soups

because they're loaded with calories,
and they can make you sleepy

before the night is over."

A LITTLE ALCOHOL CAN BE LIQUID LOVE BUT
IT 'S LOADED WITH CALORIES

SO...DON'T DRINK YOUR CALORIES

ASK FOR DRESSINGS AND SAUCE ON THE
SIDE, AND 'FORK IT'.

(SOT- Sheah Rarback/Univ. of Miami)

"You dip your fork first in the
dressing or the sauce, and then the
food

because not only do you get a small
amount of dressing but every food

has flavor, every mouthful has flavor."

SHARING ENTREES ADDS TO THE INTIMACY,

AND CUTS THE CALORIES...

BUT THE BIGGEST DINNERDATE DIET TIP,
CONCENTRATE ON... CONVERSATION NOT

CALORIES.

THE MORE YOU TALK, THE LESS YOU EAT.

AND WHEN IT COMES TO DESSERT, THE BEST
ADVICE IS TO SPLIT IT OR FORGET

IT.

GRAPHIC=SALEM The City of Salem has saved the

Western Virginia Education Classic, and
hopefully given the annual game a
permanent home.

The annual college football
contest almost died when Victory
Stadium was demolished.

But last year - both Ferrum and
Liberty kept it alive just long enough
for organizers to land the perfect
venue - Salem Stadium.

Mike Stevens has more.

FOREST JONES

In the past, Salem has not
allowed any football team other than
the Spartnas to play on the field
before December.

But the playing surface is all
prepped and ready for the installation
on field turf next week - and City is
anxious to welcome Virginia State and
Livingstone to town on Saturday
September 22nd. The Trojans have a
huge alumni base in the area - and
Jones, himself is an alumnus of
Livingstone.

COACH BITE

This game began in 2000 as a way
to help TAP's initiative to get
dropouts back in school.

In seven years - close to 600
young men and women have benefitted
from this game.
