Board had the difficult task of looking
for a superintendent -- yet again.

VO-NAT After less than two years on the

job, Marvin Thompson announced Friday
he is leaving the school system.

Thompson was under fire after it
was revealed he applied for another job
in Florida.

murder trial yesterday for the third
time in a year.

delayed photographer Bob Shell's murder
trial after the defense said it didn't
have enough time to prepare for

Monday's trial.

The commonwealth found a
folder only days ago that had the names
of potential witnesses and an interview
with an alleged drug dealer.

Shell is accused of giving
his model, 19-year-old Marion Franklin,
a lethal dose of morphine after a June
2003 photo shoot.

The case has been delayed
several times before trial and has seen
two judges, two prosecutors and three
defense attorneys.

Safety Board has determined the
probable cause of a fatal plane crash
last year in Penhook.

Investigators say the pilot's
failure to maintain control during a
climb caused the plane to break up in
flight.

September 4 Randy and Erika Nash were killed
when the small plane went down last
September.

Shortly before the crash, Randy
Nash told an air traffic controller,
"we're kind of lost in some fog here,"
and later, " I think we're upside

The report indicates that poor
weather conditions, and his
disorientation also played a role in
the accident.

The National Weather Service is
looking into reports of a possible
tornado that hit yesterday in
Gloucester, Virginia.

Along with damage to houses,
several trees and power lines were
knocked down in a wooded and rural
area.

Virginia Power and Virginia
Department Transportation crews
responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Residents in Claiborne County,
Tennessee are cleaning up a mess left
in the wake of severe weather that
passed through the area late Thursday.

At least seven people were
injured, four homes damaged and several
other buildings destroyed when at least
one tornado touched down near the town
of Crossville.

Emergency crews rescued a man who
had been trapped under a barn for more
than one hour.

It's now a private business.

expected Bonsack Elementary to do it
again.

The students raised more than
22-thousand dollars for a second year
in a row to help children with cancer
at St.Jude Children's Research
Hospital.

this year... some of the teachers

2 1/2 years getting treatment for
leukemia.

But she's in remission now and
she only has one more visit to complete

Granny Averill, who has been
working Averill's store for 67 years,
has decided to retire.

Just a few months ago, she
celebrated her 100th birthday.

But last year she broke her hip
and lately it's been harder for her to
get around, hence the decision.
