Thompson will leave the school system
after less than two years on the job.

Although he helped to raise test
scores, he also angered many teachers
and staff along the way.

difficult task of finding a new

parents and teachers shouldn't worry.

In fact, they say the way the

Tech officials report they've

whether to accept.

So far, five have specifically

from this sheep shed in Big Island that
served as the home office 27 years ago.

The non-profit organization
continues to base its operations in
Bedford County and helps distribute
food to those in need across 48 states.

An effort of that magnitude comes
with the benefit of helping so many
people, but also comes with the burden
of huge operating expenses... mainly
rising fuel costs.

Fuel prices have gone up in

recent years making it more expensive
to transport food and has taken a dent
out of most families' income.

Director of Operations, Mike
Waldmann says the need for donations is
year-round and people simply have less
