announced that Friday will be Marvin
Thompson's last day as Superintendent.

GRAPHIC=Legal Scales Guilty Plea The man accused of strangling his


sister, then cutting her body up into
19 pieces, pled guilty yesterday to
first degree murder.

James Motes says he killed his
sister back in January of 2006 because
she was keeping him away from his
family and she deserved to die.

The prosecution laid out the
details of that murder in what was was
supposed to be the start of a two day
trial yesterday.

Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff
Hapgood showed that Motes went through
extensive trouble in order not to leave
a trail of evidence.

Motes will be sentenced this
summer.

with bomb threats.

Since the tragedy, police have
received five threats, the latest was
on Saturday against the police
department.

April Tech Police were investigating
two separate threats before April 16th.

This is video of Torgeson Hall
being shutdown during one of those
pranks.

Tech leaders say these latest
threats haven't been as public because
there is still tremendous police
presence on campus and they can sweep
the buildings very quickly.

Also Radford University professor
and former police officer Tod Burke
says these types of threats are very
common after a school shooting.

rail facility in Virginia has still not
been decided.

Salem says it wants a freight
yard built there.

The Department of Rail and
Public Transportation has deferred a
decision on the location and state
funding.

The Colorado Street parcel

new effort to keep more mentally ill
people from purchasing guns in
Virginia.

Kaine's latest executive order
requires the names of people ordered to
get mental health treatment be entered
into the database barring the sale of
guns....

These are people who are
committed involuntarily after being
considered a danger to themselves or
others.

The action is in response to the
shootings at Virginia Tech.


Kaine believes people like Seung-
Hui Cho, suffering from mental
disorders should not be allowed to buy
guns.

The action should also detect
when someone's dishonest on their gun-
application.

The legislature will likely take
further action this winter.

night.

The 220- year old building has
been closed for two years while crews
repaired, updated and restored it.

Decorative paint in the House and
Senate chambers discovered under dozens

of layers of drab paint has been
restored to the way it looked in the
early 1900's.

An extension was added underneath
the south lawn.... that will serve as
the new public entrance.

molestation, but a retired Blacksburg
teacher is not coming back to Virginia
without a fight.

65-year old Jonathan Utin is NOT

waiving extradition to Montgomery
County where he's accused of molesting
a 12 year old girl more than 30 years
ago.

Utin was sentenced two weeks ago
in Ohio to 15 years in prison after
pleading guilty to molesting a child
there.

The Ohio judge described Utin as
the type of person parent's fear and
that he belongs in prison for life.

Montgomery County's
Commonwealth's Attorney has already
filed the paperwork to have Utin
brought back.

The process could take up to 90
days.

been handed down for a Christiansburg
nail salon owner accused of molesting
his clients.

38 year old Kenny Tran was found
not guilty of sexual battery yesterday
afternoon.

The jury deliberated for just 20
minutes.

Tran owns the Sky Nails Salon in
Christiansburg.

He was found not guilty in
February of three earlier counts of
sexual battery.

Tran still faces five trials in
Montgomery County involving former
clients.

Event= Consumer Watch 7 Banner batteries were recalled last year


because of a burning hazard.

Now, a popular manufacturer is
continuing that initiative.

The latest recall affects nearly
27-thousand Acer notebook computers.

These units have rechargeable
lithium- ion batteries containing Sony-
made cells.

e860 The batteries can overheat,
posing a fire hazard to consumers.

As announced previously, there
have been 16 reports of notebook
batteries overheating.

These reports were associated
with earlier recalls by other notebook
computer manufacturers... but the
connection is the use batteries with
the Sony cells.

The previous reports involved
only minor property damage and two
minor burns.

None of these reports involved
batteries in Acer notebook computers.

The computers affected were sold
nationwide from May 2004 through
November 2006 for between $500 and
$1,500.
