morning's random search was done in
response to what happened yesterday-

The school was put on lockdown
during the search.

No contraband was found.

The 12 year old found with a gun
yesterday has been charged with
possessing a firearm on school
property, and brandishing a firearm.

incident at Ruffner, two Montgomery
County teens enter pleas on their gun
charges.

A 14 and 15 year old from Auburn
Middle School entered alford pleas.

That means they do not admit
guilt, but do admit there is enough
evidence to convict them.

The pair is charged with
conspiracy to commit murder.

Investigators say they brought a
gun and ammunition into the school and
had plans to shoot the school resource
officer, principal and another student.

They will be sentenced in June.

school will mean tighter security there
tomorrow.

A female student at Pulaski
County High School found a threat in a

bathroom stall that mentioned 10 A-M on
Friday.

The sheriff's office is
investigating, but school will be open

School officials are asking
students not to bring backpacks or
purses on Friday.

Bomb sniffing dogs will also be
there.

And all exterior doors will be
locked.

cell phones were out of luck for a time
this morning.

A problem at a fiber-optic
cable facility knocked out service for
most Verizon Wireless customers in
Southwest Virginia.

The efforts are going so well
that the college plans to meet its goal
a year ahead of schedule.

The big ticket item is a 30
thousand square foot athletic center
that will named in honor of Hank Norton
- Ferrum's football coach from 1960
through 1993.

Norton was inducted into the
school's hall of fame last fall and the
support many of his former players have
given to this project is a big reason
it's ahead of schedule.

However, the game has been
postponed due to the persistent rain in
the area.

They had really hoped to get this
one in tonight because Myrtle Beach is
