Mill Mountain Star is brightly shinning
WHITE these days but some want to know
how long will it be that way before
returning to red, white, and blue?

looking into this. Justin first of
all, remind us, why is the star
currently white?

Natasha, it's to show support for
the Virginia Tech community.

quite a debate. Some felt it should be
all red, others felt it should be all
blue.

Some also wondered it should be a
particular color for 32 days or 33.

In the end, city leaders decided
to turn it all white as a symbol of
hope and agreed it should be that way
for 32 days.

But the city now says it will
remain white indefinetely.

That may upset some because city
council has said in the past the star
would be red, white, and blue as long
as we're at war.

You may remember the star went
from white to the patriotic colors
shortly after 9-11.

I've talked to several city
council members who feel a promise made
is a promise kept, therefore they
believe the star should go back to red,
white, and blue eventually.

But other council members say
it's time to revisit the issue because
there's no telling how long we'll be at
war.

Virginia wrapped up today with stops in
Jamestown and Williamsburg.

Her Majesty was greeted at
Jamestown Settlement by Vice President
Dick Chaney.

The Queen got a tour of the
educational facility before heading to
the site of the original Jamestown
Fort.

She had heard about the

But thousands did turn out for a
glimpse of the Queen.

School marching band scheduled their
visit to Jamestown before they knew the
Queen was coming.

They watched on a big screen
television as she toured the settlement
nearby.

Students from Rural Retreat
Elementary School joined the crowd

Colonial Williamsburg where the Queen
attended a luncheon. Sarah Camden
moved to Amherst County from Great
Britain six years ago. She
wanted her five year old son Vasser to
see the Queen.

the Internet to solicit a young girl
for sex.

College has decided on a site for a new
shopping Village.

This maintenance area is the
latest location.

This means the shopping center
will be on the same side of highway as
the colllege.

The schools say the reason for
the change is because it is more cost
efficient and it's safer for
pedestrians if they don't have to cross
the street.

Initially the school planned to
move the Blue Ridge Institute Farm and
Museum to the other side of Route 40.

Now the farm will stay where it
is but move back off the road some.

No word on when construction will
begin.

hundreds.

Jaycees, but has been at the zoo for
more than 50 years.
