"We are here for the long haul and we

this city back and running again."

FEMA trailers are standing-by for
displaced families, but first, debris

needs to be cleared from utility lines

Search and rescue crews will also be

back today. With so many people

scatteredofficials are having a
difficult time determining if anyone is

missing and with so much rubble yet to
be searched.. they believe it is

still possible to find survivors or
victims.

(bridge/Drew Levinson/Greensburg)

And mixed in with all this devastation
is some controversy. The Kansas

here will be slower because some

Sot: Gov. Kathleen Sebelius/D-Kansas

She tried diet after diet--but nothing
worked...

(sot tape 3, 1:11:53)

Phyllis: "I would lose the weight and

then gain it back, lose it and

gain it back."

(vo)

Now, Consumer Reports may have the
answer.

In its June issue, health editors rate
some of the most popular diet

plans--and choose the winners.

(sot tape 1, 10:15:11)

Ronni Sandroff/Health Editor, Consumer
Reports: "We looked at those with

clinical studies, and we ranked them in
terms of how much weight people

lost, how long they stuck with the
diet, and nutrition value of the

diet."

(vo)

Ranking number 3 and 4: Jenny Craig and
Slim-Fast.

(sot tape 1, 10:21:45)

Ronni: "They're especially good for
people who really are on the run,

the Slim-Fast plan, you buy their
shakes and bars for two meals a day.

On Jenny Craig, you can buy controlled

portion entrees and snacks."

(sot tape 1 and tape 2, 10:16:12)

Susan: "How much weight did people lose
on those diets?"

Ronni: "People lost fairly significant
amounts of weight on both those

diets, the problem was they were hard
plans to stay with long term, they

had a high dropout rate."

(vo)

Coming in at number two? Weight
Watchers.

(sot tape 1)

Ronni: "Weight Watchers did very well,
that's a plan where people go to

weekly meetings, they get a lot of
emotional support. You can pretty

much eat anything anything you want up
to a certain amount of points

each day."

(vo)

While people stuck with Weight Watchers
longer than any other plan--the

meetings do require a time
commitment...so it's not for everyone.

So which diet ranked better than all
the rest?

#1--The Volumetrics Eating Plan.

(sot tape 2)

Susan: "What is the strategy of this
plan, how does it work?"

Ronni: "Volumetrics is really about not
being hungry, so you eat a lot

of low calorie food basically, you fill
up on salads and soups before a

meal so you can take the edge off your
appetite. Volumetrics had the

best overall weight loss for any plan
we looked at."

(vo)

It worked for Phyllis--

She went on Volumetrics--and just look
at her now!

The plan helped her lose more than
=200= pounds.

(sot tape 4)

Phyllis: "It's like night and day, my
energy level is through the roof.

I can do things that I use to do
before, I just feel great!"

(anchor tag)

Always eat breakfast.. a small bowl
of cereal or fruit is enough.

Weigh yourself weekly.. dieters who
lose a lot of weight do that, and

it keeps them on track.

And bore yourself thin.. experts say
people who eat the same thing

every day get bored with the food, and
eat less of it.

Courtesy Damian Salas - VT In pre-race ceremonies, Virginia
drivers Jeff and Ward Burton, Elliott
Sadler and Denny Hamlin presented Tech
football coach Frank Beamer with a
check for $120-thousand from NASCAR for
the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.

Beamer spoke at the drivers'
meeting, met with Governor Tim Kaine

and received another $40-thousand from
the Richmond International Raceway for
the fund.

There were many signs for support
for the Hokie Nation-- from the VT
painted on the infield - to the special
helmet worn by Ward Burton - to the VT
on the hood of Burton's car.

That featured an amazing picture
on the back of it of Burress Hall, with
a silhouetted rose in the foreground.

GRAPHIC=UVA The exploits of Vic Hall on

Friday Football Extra as a High School
Quarterback are still legendary

thoughout the state.

Hall will have a chance in 2007
to get his hands on the football for
U-V-A - but not in the way most fans
had hoped.

Hall will serve as the Cavaliers'
holder on Field Goals and Extra Points
this coming season.

The only other chances for Hall
to get into the endzone will be as a
defensive Back.

The former Gretna Star is competing
for a starting spot at Cornerback for
the Wahoos in the coming season.

In his eyes Hall sees himself as
completely a D-B now and no longer a
Quarterback.

But it took some time and a lot of
effort for that mindset to take hold.
