but it caused quite a scare on the
campus of E.C. Glass High School this
morning.

7 after a passerby spotted someone with
a gun in the school parking lot.

Police later determined it was a
non-functioning rifle and that the
student was simply returning it to
school after weekend drill.

the grounds of Staunton River High
School.

If it is any consolation, the
Roanoke region's average is 27 cents
less, and that is still well below the
3-19 or higher we paid just after

In March, Menu Foods recalled 60
million packages of tainted food.

The F-D-A confirmed the food
killed 16 pets.

The agency ALSO says pet owners
reported the deaths of nearly
2-thousand cats and 22-hundred dogs.

It's still not known how many
were linked to the recall.

that team, Kylee Beccher, has picked
her college.

The daughter of former Virginia
Tech great Bobby Beecher is just
wrapping up her junior year and will

2007 Group AA State Tournament Her coach Mike McGuire says since :00 the end of the state tournament in
Richmond in which Kylee played all 64
minutes of the tournament scoring 32
points and grabbing 19 rebounds in two
games, she's had inquires from over 30
division one schools and offers from at
least five including Boston College,
Richmond, JMU and Western Kentucky.

McGuire says Virginia Tech had
not yet indicated it would offer
Beecher a scholarship and after
visiting Columbia - the Beechers were
sold on USC.

awarding its 11th annual King Family
Scholarship tonight to a deserving
young high school senior in the area.

This will mark the 11th straight
year a $10 thousand dollar grant has
been handed out to a local student.

But this isn't a real surprise -
the folks at Blue Hills have been
giving back to the valley for five
decades.

softball team wrapped up its first ACC
Tournament title by beating Georgia
Tech.

Last night when the NCAA
released the brackets for the upcoming
national tournament, the Hokies were
slated to play Cal State Fullerton in

Columbus, Ohio this Friday.

While the Hokies are still
headed to Ohio, a clerical error was
made by the selection committee in
posting the matchups. Tech will
actually play Canisius in the opening
round game at 5pm on Friday.
