today described the death of Falwell.

Just an hour after he was found
unconcious, doctors at Lynchburg
General Hospital pronounced him dead at
12-40 this afternoon.

In the spring 1977 Falwell played
a pivotal role in recruiting Billy
Belcher to play football - even though
the football stadium at the time was
non-existent.

As a matter of fact, Belcher says
the entire campus pretty much consisted
of a sea of red mud and a classroom

building.

But it was Falwell's confidence
and strong christian faith in the
future of his institution that
convinced Belcher to jump on board.

problems in the past two years.

March 2005 He even came close to dying twice in
2005. First, a twelve day bout with
pneumonia, then congestive heart
failure. He actually lost
consciousness for several minutes after
going into respiratory arrest.

Later that year doctors did find a
70-percent blockage in an artery and
stents were put in to open it up.

After his brush with death, Falwell
did make several lifestyle changes. He
cut his work schedule in half, began
eating more healthy, and walking more.

But despite his efforts, his doctors
believe he passed away today from
sudden cardiac death.

congregation about global warming.

The pastor believed global
warming in itself was a myth created by
the United Nations, liberal
politicians, and radical
environmentalists.

Furthermore, he accused them of
using global warming as a way to

issues.

One of those issues Falwell
claims was the idea that America was
"morally bankrupt".

The State Corporation
Commission has slashed APCO's rate hike
from more than 25-percent to just over
three percent.

That's 174-million less
than what the utility wanted.

The S-C-C allowed the
increase to go into effect with the
understanding that if the approved
amount was lower, customers would get
refunds with interest.

The company now has

against a Hillsville man accused of
driving on a suspended license.

guilty in February to reckless driving

old fatal hit and run.

Brady received a suspended
sentence and a restricted license.

He was caught driving last in

Brady was then on his way to the
pharmacy.

Brady is allowed to drive for
medical reasons.

and Radford University announced today
that they have extended their agreement
to host the Spring Jubilee.

The Jubilee is the VHSL's state
championship weekend for spring sports,
and this new deal calls for a two year
extension.

busted today after his Bud Chevy failed
inspection last weekend at Darlington.

Dale Junior's team was docked 100
points and his owner Teresa Earnhardt
was docked 100 owner's points after
NASCAR found that the mounts that hold
the rear wing on the Car of Tomorrow
were illiegal.

Crew chief Tony Eury, Junior was
fined $100,000 as well and suspended
for six weeks by NASCAR.

Eury says it was an honest
mistake and his track record speaks for
itseld. Eury has never had a major
infraction during his seven years as a
Cup crew chief. He has maintained the
problem with the wing was not
intentional, and the brackets were an
old set that had been used during a
test session.

scorer's table by Robert Horry.

The forearm shiver ended up
getting Horry ejected from the game and
tonight he was suspended for games five
