Christiansburg business this afternoon
and held an employee at gunpoint.

41 year old Blacksburg resident
Barry Alderman is facing numerous
charges including attempted first
degree murder.
Police say at around 1:25 in the
afternoon when Alderman walked into

the Reed Lumber Company on Sullivan
Street and pulled out a gun.
He reportedly pointed it at an
employee, but that person fought with
Alderman and was able to take the
weapon away.
Alderman fled the scene and was
arrested on the 460 bypass in
Blacksburg.
Alderman is a former employee of
the lumber company, but hadn't worked
there since January.
He's being held without bond at
the Montgomery County jail.

Six years ago, the average
family was paying about 15-hundred
dollars a year for gas.
Fast forward to the year 2007,
the today's family is paying nearly
34-hundred dollars a year for gas.
That's causing some people to

Last year 40 percent gas prices
affected their Memorial Holiday plans.
Looking at the bigger

comes to planning vacations and or
holidays....this year more people say
gas prices have become a major factor.

the State Corporation's verdict, not to
grant Appalachian Power a 25 percent
increase.

lawmaker, he warns consumers shouldn't
get too complacent since Appalachian
could make a similar price increase
request down the road. - and as it
stands now, as of July 1st the State
Corporations Commission will not have
full discretionary power which means

asks for another increase they'll
likely get it unless constituents pack
on the pressure to change a key bill.

Coventry Commonwealth Games of Virginia
are getting ready to host their 18th
annual state competition later this
year on July 20th through the 22nd.

This afternoon at the Hotel
Roanoke - Games director Pete Lampman
announced that 10 thousand athletes are
expected to take part in the games this
year and there are more games for
individuals to play.
60 sports will be represented
this July.
Lampman also announced that this
year's guest speaker for the opening
ceremonies will be Rebecca Lobo - the
former WNBA star from U-Conn who also
won a gold medal at the 96 olympic
games.

tributes for the Hokies ever since
April 16th.
And while they have slowed down,
they have not stopped.
Last night Rascal Flatts honored
the victims during the CMA awards and
this week the baseball team from
Virginia State will show love to the
Hokie Nation in its own way.
The Trojans are wearing Tech hats
during their games in the N-C-A-A
Division Two tournament which starts
tomorrow.
Virginia State is the tournament
as the champion on the CI Double A.
