trouble with the law again.

VO-NAT Nancy Felter was tried back in March
on animal cruelty charges.
She was acquitted, but is scheduled
to be tried on additional charges next
month.
We've now learned that authorities
seized more animals this week from her
Ferrum home.
She has yet to be charged from this
latest incident.

tried to euthanize the dog.
According to a search warrant, Felter
told an informant on May 12th she was
going to kill the dog but she did not
have any anti-freeze.

The informant then called her back
three days later, and according to the
search warrant, Felter stated she had
crushed twenty-five pain relief pills
and fed them to the poodle in its dog
food.

The 21- year- old soldier died
Saturday, when his unit was attacked
south of Baghdad.
Three other soldiers were killed

building today, to see their school
chancellor one more time.

The Reverend Jerry Falwell lies
in repose in the DeMoss Learning Center
two days after he died, apparently from
a heart condition.
Many students wept today as they
viewed the founder of their school.
Falwell's body will remain at
Liberty tomorrow afternoon, when it
will be moved to Thomas Road Baptist
Church for a public viewing on Sunday
and Monday.
His funeral service will be held
on Tuesday at the church, which he
founded over 50 years ago.

Hess had a .45 caliber pistol with two
loaded clips.

administrators, Another student
reported the incident to the principal
around noon.
The principal then
approached Hess, who admitted to having
the gun. It was tucked into his jeans
at the time, he handed it over and was
later taken into custody.
He's been charged with
carrying a weapon on school property
and is being held in the Blue Ridge
Regional Jail.
School leaders say the
student's motive is still being
investigated.

considered for dismissal last year
included Western Virginia's John
Brownlee.
The Washington Post reports the
Justice Department considered 26 of the
nation's 93 U-S Attorneys for possible
dismissal.
Brownlee was the first of five
names recommended for firing by the
Deputy Attorney General's Chief of
Staff Michael Elston.
Brownlee was not one of the nine
ultimately dismissed. Brownlee issued
a brief statement late today, saying
he'd first learned he was on Elston's
list March 14th of this year.
"That same day," Brownlee said,
he reported Mr. Elston's conduct to the
Department of Justice.
The U-S Attorney's spokeswoman
declined to elaborate.

Alleghany County nearly 80 years ago.
But it wasn't until this year,
until two men were honored for their
service.

VO-NAT In 1922....Sheriff Edwin Butler
was shot while serving a search warrant
on a suspected moonshine operation.
He died a few days later at a
hospital in Clifton Forge.
And....in 1927...deputy Samuel
Brown was shot and killed while trying
to arrest a suspected chicken thief.
After digging through some
history, the current chief deputy of
the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office
realized the two men had never honored.

the charm as W&L won the title in
Fredericksburg.
The Lady Generals finish the

Tonight, Ferrum took on Salisbury
in the winner's bracket of the four day
event.

In the top of the 7th Salisbury

of the NCAA East Regional in
Alpharetta, Georgia. Georgia Tech
leads the event, and while the Hokies

Williamsburg at the end of the month.
