from an embattled Franklin County dog
breeder.
You may remember Nancy Felter was
tried once before on animal cruelty
charges, although she was acquitted.

The latest incident involves two
dogs and a goat who animal control
seized Wednesday.
According to a search warrant,
Felter told an informant she tried to
euthanized this black poodle by giving
it twenty five pain relief pills
through its food.
The dog is currently recovering
at Franklin County Animal Hospital.

May 27th at William Campbell High
School to honor a local fallen
soldier.
21- year- old Christopher Murphy was
killed last weekend in Iraq.

Sterne was shot in the leg and
had tied electrical tape around his own
injury
Doctors say that quick thinking
probably saved his life.

engineer for W-U-V-T and has been
trying to fixed the station's aging
equipment all year.

And apparently local radio
stations heard the call.
Clear Channel and the Society of
Broadcast Engineers got the station
back up to full power, donated
equipment and even gave the station a
back up transmitter.
Sterne will return to Tech next
year as a grad student and he plans to
continue working for the radio station.

organization in North Carolina.
David Diaz, executive director of
D-R-I, will become president of the
Downtown Raleigh Alliance.

student is facing charges after
bringing a gun to school.

18-year-old John Thomas
Hess had a .45 caliber pistol with two
loaded clips.

According to
administrators, another student
reported the incident to the principal
around Noon yesterday.
The principal then
approached Hess, who admitted to having
the gun. It was tucked into his jeans
at the time, he handed it over and was
later taken into custody.
He's been charged with
carrying a weapon on school property
and is being held in the Blue Ridge
Regional Jail.
School leaders say the
student's motive is still being
investigated.

chances to say goodbye to the Reverend
Jerry Falwell-- and yesterday, hundreds
of Liberty University students came out
to see their school chancellor for the
last time.

The Reverend Jerry Falwell lies
in repose in the DeMoss Learning Center
days after he died, apparently from a
heart condition.
Many students wept yesterday as
they viewed the founder of their
school.
Falwell's body will remain at
Liberty until this afternoon, then it
will be moved to Thomas Road Baptist
Church for a public viewing on Sunday
and Monday.
His funeral service will be held
on Tuesday at the church, which he
founded over 50 years ago.
