GRAPHIC=Accident An early morning accident in
Lynchburg sent one person to the
hospital.
It happened at around 1:30 in the
4700 block of Richmond Highway near
Jumbo's Restaurant.
Police say a car hit the side of
the bridge that goes over the nearby
railroad tracks.
The driver was taken to the
hospital and is listed in critical
condition.
The accident is still under
investigation.

accidents yesterday...one happened in
Rockbridge County around 4:00.
Police say 20-year-old David
Allen Lowe of Buena Vista was killed
when his car ran off Route 60.
The other accident happened
around 7:00 in Botetourt County.
State Police say Gregory Scott
Orange of Blue Ridge died when his
truck ranoff Patterson Trail, near
Route 220.
Neither of the victims was
wearing a seatbelt.

Liberty University.
And yesterday, friends and
family of the late Reverend Jerry
Falwell had to get through another
difficult day, the first Sunday worship
services at Thomas Road Baptist Church
since Falwell passed away.

the church.
He was remembered as a mighty
force in conservative Christianity.
Falwell's son, executive pastor
of Thomas Road Baptist Church Jonathan
Falwell, tried to rally the tearful

Falwell left control of his
empire to his two sons, Jonathan and
Jerry Junior.
The funeral for Falwell will also be at
the church. That's tomorrow at 1:00
p.m.

May 10 The Virginia Tech Review Panel
will hold the second of four meetings
today.
In addition to public comments,
several groups including local law
enforcement, emergency responders,
hosptial workers and Virginia Tech will
also brief the panel on their response
during the school shooting.
The review members were appointed
by Governor Kaine to look into the
circumstances surrounding the April
16th incident.

has done a number of stories on the
grassroots efforts of Gary Hunt.
He's been taking used school
supplies to children in Belize for over
a decade and this summer he's making
another trip.
But this time, he'll have 15
others going with him.
Hunt is the organizer of a
project called "Bookbag Santa."

don't need it anymore, donate it to the
cause."
The way Bookbag Santa works is,
each person can travel with 100 pounds
of materials in their carry-on luggage
for the flight to Belize.
That means the group will be
taking 16-hundred pounds of used school
supplies to children who can really use
it.
Hunt says the schools in Belize
literally need everything.

Lynchburg could soon be getting bigger.

Lynchburg City Council has
approved rezoning for Lakeside Centre,
a 130-acre development at the
intersection of Lakeside Drive and the
Lynchburg Expressway.
Developers want to add an
additional 70 acres to the project,
making way for even more stores and
restaurants.
That change will have to be
approved by the Lynchburg planning
commission.
A public hearing on the project
is scheduled for June 13th.

downtown Roanoke has revealed an inside
look into the eclectic art of the early
19- hundreds.

somewhat of a staple amongst the
locals.
Recently, while workers were
sprucing up the old department and
furniture store, they tapped into this
art deco facade, which had been bricked
over after a fire in the mid 19- 60's.

back to its formal glory as they
prepare to build 50 new apartments
tentatively set to open in a year.
