in the trunk of his car.

security personnel told the family last
night that there had been a threat, but
that it had been taken care of with an
arrest.

Investigators have determined
that Uhl had problems with the group
that staged a protest across the street
from Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Authorities believe there are
others involved in the manufacturing of
these devices and that they are still
investigating.

Meanwhile, Uhl is being held at
the Campbell County Adult Detention
Center without bond.

crash in Rocky Mount this afternoon.

The crash happened sometime
before three pm at the intersection of
Grassy Hill and Summit Roads.

State Police say a ford mustang
was going westbound and lost control,
crossed over into the eastbound lanes,
side swiped another car, then struck
several trees before overturning.

One of the passengers of the
mustang, Bryan Patrick White Junior of
Boones Mill, died in the accident.

He was not wearing his seat belt.

The accident is still under
investigation.

No word on the other passengers
conditions.

6:15.

He hit a guard rail between the
Wonju Street and Franklin Road exits.

persons case sent investigators to
Smith Mountain Lake today.

Doug Grabowski vanished from
Southwest Roanoke County two years ago.

Roanoke County Police as well as
State Police spent the morning combing
the waters for Grabowski's 19-77
faded-black Ford pick-up truck which

35-year-old.

The crews used sonar equipment to
search two areas off Nicholas Lane on
the Bedford County side.

Authorities would not comment on
the case other than to say their search
was unsuccessful.

called the "Route 58 site" just east of
Independence.

99- million dollars has been
budgeted to build the facility that
will hold more than one thousand
prisoners and create about 300- new
jobs.

Even after the prison comes
online though- the Department of
Corrections will still lack about 13-
hundred beds.

The General Assembly has
appropriated more than a million
dollars to start planning for another
new prison in Charlotte County.

This Season The C-O-T was scheduled to run
16 races this season, and then be
phased into competition over the next
two years. But maintaining two
different cars has turned out to be not
only a pain, but also extremely
expensive.

The Car of Tomorrow is supposed
to be safer, less expensive and make
racing better.

So far, it hasn;t worked out that
way. The Car of Tomorrow has been used
in five events this all won by drivers
from Hendrick Motorsports. The next
C-O-T race is June third in Dover,
Delaware.

The Atlantic hurricane season,
which begins June first, looks like it
will be more active than usual.

That according to the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,
or NOAA, which released its 2007 season
hurricane season predictions today.

VO-NAT Forecasters are predicting 13 to

17 named storms, seven to 10 of them
becoming hurricanes, and three to five
of the hurricanes becoming major,
meaning they'll be at least a category
three or greater on the Saffir-Simpson
Scale.

It's all part of an active era in
hurricane history. One that may last
another 25 years.

That's why forecasters are
encouraging everyone along the coastal
areas to be prepared.
