(END SOT) << If you plan on coming to the

funeral today, authorities urge you to
get here early .. but even then, expect
major delays.

Traffic around the Candlers
Mountain Road area is expected to be
extremely heavy as thousands of people
plan to turn out for funeral services
at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

The church can accomodate up to
6-thousand mourners ... at least 300
dignitaries from around the country
plan to attend.

Reverend Falwell will then be laid
to rest in a private graveside service
behind the Carter Glass Mansion on the

Liberty University campus.

Mourners won't be the only ones on
hand ... anti-gay preacher Fred Phelps
and his group from Westboro Baptist
Church in Kansas have announced plans
to hold a protest outside the church
just before the funeral.

Because of the anticipated traffic
problems, Lynchburg city schools will
dismiss their students early this
afternoon.

New research is seriously questioning
the safety of a drug taken by millions
of type 2 diabetics.

(vo)(VIDEO FROM: GLAXO SMITH KLINE)

An analysis found Avandia can
significantly increase the risk of
heart attack.

But the drug maker, Glaxo Smith Kline,
disputes the findings saying earlier
studies didn t detect such a link.

Experts say patients should not stop
taking the drug until they talk with
their doctor.

(wipevo)

Today the Food and Drug Administration
is expected to approve a birth control
pill that would completely eliminate
periods for women.

Doctors studying Lybrel say it s no
riskier than the traditional pill.

A recent poll found about 50 percent of
women would like to eliminate their
monthly period.

If approved the drug could hit the
market by July.

(wipevo)(VIDEO FROM: PFIZER)

At lower doses the male impotence drug
Viagra may be able to help treat jet
lag.

Researchers induced jet lag in lab
mice.. and found Viagra pills could

reset the rodents sleep cycle.

The authors of the study say Viagra
works by interfering with an enzyme
that lowers levels of a naturally
occurring compound associated with
regulating the body's internal clock.

stories.

bgrebe@wdbj7.com Kimberly, the students are
self-described "Mathletes."

You can tell that from the
creative name they came up with for

their group... the "Polygons."

That's to say, when it comes to
personalities, they are many sided.

The "Polygons'" talents stretch
beyond numbers into science as well.

Patrick Fennell, Megan Gibbons,
Brennan Long, and Elizabeth Surat are
the "Polygons."

The Roanoke Catholic ninth grade
quartet recently entered the national
eCYBERMISSION.

That a web-based competition
hosted by the US Army where groups pick
a problem in their home community, come
up with a hypothesis and develop a
solution to the problem.

The problem the Polygons choose
to tackle was carbon monoxide
poisoinings last summer at Roanoke
College.

The successful result of the
project is the Northeast Region
"Benefit to the Community" award for
their age group.

The group was responsible for
researching the issue, coming up with a
hypothesis, conducting interviews with

They say the Roanoke College
staff was helpful throughout the
process.

The Polygons' methodology
included testing for Radon with a
filtered charcoal test-kit at Roanoke
Catholic.

They also tested for Carbon
Monoxide in two places with monitors
that recorded the levels of the CO.

In addition finding low levels of
Radon. the students also found that
some school officials in the region
were unaware of the dangers posed by
gases...
