Roanoke Valley residents.

That's the word from the Vinton
Police Department.

Last week, they arrested a man
after they say he tried to scam a man
out of 800-dollars.

today.

than the other paving scams we hear

The victim in this case is really
lucky to be alive.

The man accused of running this
scam has a long, violent criminal
history - not only has he been accused
of burglary in the past, but also first

degree murder.

According to court records, he
was later convicted of second degree
murder in Greenbrier County, West
Virginia.

charged with obtaining money under
false pretense and soliciting without a
permit.

around the Dillon Woods neighborhood of
Vinton telling residents they could

Broadhill Drive took them up on their

The orangutan pushed its way out
of a cage and wandered into a nearby
restaurant courtyard--

it tipped over a motorcycle..
overturned picnic tables and forced
diners to take cover.

Vets were able to shoot the beast
with a tranquilizer gun-- and take him
back to the zoo.
