GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident A deadly start to the holiday

weekend after a man was hit and killed
while riding his bicyle in Bedford
County.

State Police say 58-year-old John
Bell of Lynchburg was traveling North
on Route 501 when a woman driving a
mini van - also going the same way ran
into him this afternoon.

Charges have not been filed at
this time and the accident remains
under investigation.

The victim was wearing a helmet.

Tonight, Centra Health where Dr.
Bell seen on the right was one of three
cardiothracic surgeons released a
statement calling his death an
immeasurable loss.

loose and police warn he could be

Johnson - a convicted felon - got
in trouble again this past week when
police say he fired a gun -

bear off Route 460 near Dixie Caverns.

Believe it or not this wasn't the

has had several reports of them going

The city's 15th annual ceremony
just wrapped up in downtown a little
while ago.

It's a chance for family members
and friends to come together and
reflect.

Sixteen people were honored this
year, bringing the memorial's total to
360.

The service began in Virginia in
19-91 when organizers realized there
was nothing to recognize EMS providers'
sacrifices.

bigger picture going on this Memorial
Day weekend.

The national holiday was
originally called Decoration Day and
remembers those who made the ultimate
sacrifice for our country.

You're looking at video of the
Iwo Jima Memorial unveiled in 1954 in
Arlington.

It depicts one of the most
historic battles of World War Two -
dedicated to all marines who've lost

their lives through service.

of babies being born in the back of a
taxi, even an elevator..we'll there's
one baby who can top that literally.

Doctors delivered the newborn 30
thousand feet in the air this week.

The mother was on her way from
Germany to Atlanta and wasn't due for
another month.

Lucky for her.....two doctors
were on the plane and were able to
deliver the child without any medical
equipment or anesthesia.

Quite a feat -- especially since
the baby didn't have a heartbeat at one
point.

Communicating takes a little
effort too.

"This event is about more than
just fun and games. It's also a chance
for the YMCA to raise money, so that
more people in the valley have access
to this pool."

"It's not just the memberships

that they would like to be a part of,
it's the programming, the swim lessons,
the day camp."

This game is also giving players
a chance to practice for more
challenging dives.

"We're going in to the warm
season, so this gives scuba divers a
chance to come and brush up on their
skills and get ready"

So while the community chest here
may be more of a sunken treasure, these
players say it's just more fun this
way.

in the past. This year it was held in
Jacksonville Florida with a new Round
Robin Format.

The Virginia Cavaliers found that
to their liking as they had won their
first 2 games and needed to beat North
Carolina to advance to the title game
on Sunday.

a possible National Title Contender a
season ago before they had the rest of
their games cancelled after the rape
allegations from Team Party.

Since then the Charges were

dropped and the team was back to
playing Lacrosse with a New Head Coach.

N-C-A-A Tourney were looking to advance
to the National Championship game with
a win over Cornell.

The Blue Devils were down by a
goal when Matt Danowski the Coaches Son

score coming from behind the cage on
the nice pass.

Duke would take a large lead in
the second half before the Big Red of
Cornell would come storming back. They
Scored 6 straight goals at one point
and then with under 20 seconds to go in
the game they would tie it up at 11 and
Overtime seemed inevitable.
