down just a bit in the last day or so,
but they're still near the highest
sustained levels we've ever seen.

Triple-A reports regular went
yesterday for an average of 3-01 in
the Roanoke region.

That's 31 cents a gallon more
than one month ago, and 37 cents higher
than last year at this time.

missing in the James River in Amherst
County. Dispatchers say a friend of
the boaters told police they left in a

canoe around 8:45 Friday night to get
supplies and had not returned.

The boaters were located shortly
before midnight.

Crews were prepared to search

Sheriff Frank Cassell drew strong
reactions yesterday from residents of
Henry County.

And the chairman of the board of
supervisors said the court should make

Heavy rains have forced the
Hutchinson Zoo in Kansas to close.

Officials say over 70 percent of
their grounds are underwater.

In the past few days, the area
has been saturated with several inches
of rain.

Zookeepers have been trying to
get as many animals as possible to
higher and drier ground.

For those animals that are too
big to move, caretakers are using a
canoe to get to them and make sure they

have food.

Several more inches of rain are
forecast into next week.

Meanwhile - Residents in
Northwest Oklahoma are seeing some of
the region's worst flooding in 50
years.

Yesterday morning rising
floodwaters forced a family to evacuate
when a creek crested near their home in
the town of Gage.

six-day ride that ended in Roanoke
yesterday afternoon.

Emergency Medical Service workers
from across the country peddled six
hundred miles to honor the ones who
lost their lives trying to save others.

The bikers began their trip in
New York last week. They left Staunton
Virginia early yesterday morning and
traveled 90 miles to Hotel Roanoke,
where they celebrated with friends and
family.

The group has a Memorial Service
planned for tonight at First Baptist
Church in Roanoke.
