dozens this afternoon to remember a
young man who's given his life for his
country.

Private First Class Christopher
Edward Murphy was killed during an
attack a couple of weeks ago in Iraq -
south of Baghdad.

Murphy was a part of a unit that
was ambushed.

Three of his comrades were also
killed.

Three others were believed to
have been kidnapped.

The body of one of those missing
soldiers was recently found in the
Euphrates River.

Private First Class Christopher Edward
Murphy graduated from just three years
prior in 2004, his family, friends and
loved ones gathered together.

This occasion, however, is to
celebrate the life of the 21 year-old
soldier killed serving his country.

who knew Murphy shared memories of him.

He loved being in the military
and planned to make a career of it.

He had nearly two years under his
belt when all of that abruptly ended.

for his commitment on the battlefield
but also on the football field.

During his high school years, he
was a varsity member of the 2002
Virginia State Football Championship

Authorities say they've already
worked three accidents.

Two of them yesterday on the
Franklin County side of Smith Mountain

people on water ski's.

The other accident involved a
fall.

No serious injuries sustained in

The Kiwanis Club planted 41 elm

Speedway.

Nascar's oldest track though is
not standing pat. Travis Wells checks
in with some new options that fans will
have when they return to the paperclip

weekend. And while there isn't a bad
seat in the house, perhaps the best
one, is still under construction.

Since the Goody's Cool Orange 500 in
April, dirt has been moved along the
backstretch towards turn 3 to make room
for what will be known as the Champions
Overlook, which will include 30 new
paved RV sites. At a cost of around 2
thousand bucks per race, the sites will
be named for former winners at the
track, and the view will be unmatched.

The speedway is one of southside's
biggest marketing tools and earlier
this week, it was recognized by the
Martinsville--Henry County Economical
Development Corportation with a Legacy
Award for its 60 years of impacting the
area's economy.

Robertson Memorial. 2-time Robertson
Winner Paula Creamer has won multiple
times on the L-P-G-A Tour.

Kevin Na was looking for his first
P-G-A Tour win at the Colonial this
weekend.

And he began the Final Round
looking good as he would eagle the
first hole and then gets the biridie on
number 7 to get to 11 under par and
just out of the lead.

The man he was chasing though is
Bernard Langer. The Former European
Ryder Cup Captain has been golfing his

ball this week. He was 3 under on the
front side just like Na to take a 2
stroke lead over the field at 14 under.
