than three dozen people were

killed in 2 different attacks in the
capital city.

a pick-up truck parked outside a car
parts shop exploded in western

baghdad killing 17 and destroying
nearby homes and a mosque. panicked

residents rushed to free those trapped
in the debris.

An hour earlier , a minibus packed
with explosives blew up several

miles away in a busy shopping square,
killing 23. Cars were riddled

with shrapnel, pushcarts flipped upside
down, and smoke billowed into

the sky.

U.S. deaths have risen each month since
February when President Bush

intensified efforts to secure Baghdad,
sending 30,000 additional U.S.

forces.

Violence has surged in recent months as
the recent u-s lead security

crackdown in Baghdad began, forcing

militants to seek new bases.

In response, the U-S military increased
operations in the Diyala

province northeast of Baghdad to
prevent such a flood of insurgents.

These latest US casualties bring the
death toll for May to At least

110, the highest of any month this
year. more than 3400 troops have

died since the start of the war in
march 2003.

suspected of two separate shootings in
Rockbridge County.

Biologists say the natural behavior of
a young humpback whale�splashing

its tail playfully with its mother
swimming nearby is a good sign. The

wounded whales are now about 45 miles
from the Golden Gate and the open

ocean.

15:04:39 the key thing is that whales
are now within water that has a

higher salt content than they had in
the Rio Vista area. It's giving an

opportunity for their wounds to heal a
little bit better.

Biologists have also injected the
whales with antibiotics to help them

heal.

After swimming 24 miles downriver
Sunday the whales spent Monday just

hanging out.

But meandering provides a perfect
opportunity for whale watching.

Biologists worry the next hazard will
be heavy ship traffic in San

Francisco Bay.

The Bay holds other dangers too. It's

inlets�plenty of places for the whales
to get lost again.

infamous stripper scandal of 2006.

He hasn't talked much about
anything concerning the scandal, until
now.

Pressler has written a book
entitled "It's not about the Truth"
