DISCOURAGING TO HEAR THERE COULD BE
FURTHER CUTS

Doctor Cecil Wilson with the
American Medical Association told News
7 the 10 percent cut is just the
beginning. The cuts are expected to
continue everywhere year, and will
total close to 40 percent over the next
nine years.
The Centers for Medicaid and
Medicare Services confirms that deeper
cuts are coming for physicians --but
did not clarify the percentage.
It will take an act on Congress to
change because the formula to determine
the rate change is based on several
factors established during the Balanced
Budget Act of 1997.
