Tuesday night left a wide amount of
damage in the area.

yesterday trying to restore power to a
total of 11-hundred customers, but that
was only part of the problem.
Many folks especially in Franklin
County have a major cleanup effort on
their hands.
Residents say the storm seemed

isn't getting any special treatment.

Lawyers for Kenny Tran, asked
that he be allowed to leave his cell
during the day to work at his nail
salon.
Tran was convicted last month of
the assault and battery of a client.
A jury sentenced him to 6 months
in jail.
The judge denied the request and
said Tran would have to serve the full
jail sentence.
Tran still faces five more trials
where 6 women claim he molested them
while he was doing their nails.

GRAPHIC=Accident A car accident along Route 2-20
in Franklin County brought a scare to
drivers yesterday morning.

Both drivers managed to escape the
wreckage before it burst into flames.
One of the cars showed signs of
fire damage.
Authorities say the accident
happened when a third vehicle tried to
cut across traffic, causing the other
two cars to collide.
At least two people were taken to
the hospital -rescue workers said their
injuries did not appear to be serious.

about what their kids may be posting on
the internet.

inappropriate pictures posted by local
high school students on MySpace and
Facebook. We found examples of underage
drinking, a student holding a gun and
pointing it at the camera, and even a
few that are sexual in nature.
Caroline Overfelt is the
e-learning coordinator for Roanoke
County schools. One of her
responsibilities is to call parents
when she finds inappropriate pictures.

invasion were honored at the National
D-Day Memorial in Bedford.
About fifty of them turned out for

122 near Staunton River High School
yesterday morning....after a tractor
trailer ran off the road.

the roadway and lost its cargo.
That prompted authorities to
close the road for several hours.
State police say there were no

seconds a child is reported missing.
And experts say time is crucial
to their recovery.

"A Child is Missing Alert" is
used to locate endangered children and
adults.
Yesterday at Jackson Middle
School in Roanoke....12 different
organizations from the region gathered
to learn more about the program.
Only law enforcement can activate
the system by calling A-CIM (A-Simm)
operators.
Once that call is placed, a
thousand phone alerts are sent out in
60 seconds to the surrounding area.
A-CIM (A-Simm) is often put into
effect before the Amber Alert and
assists in all missing cases.
The program is free to law
enforcement agencies and the
communities they serve.
