The Dean of sportscasters in the state of Virginia was the master of earning the trust of coaches and athletes everywhere. When he passed away in April of 2002, people from all walks of life rallied to support what was thought to be a one time gofl tournament and auction designed to raise enough money to fund one annual $1000 grant forever. But the reponse was so great - the tournament was expanded - and the auction has continued. To date nearly 20 high school students have received scholarships and over $100 thousand dollars has been raised for the cause. DELL CURRY Curry got to know Roy when he arrived on the Tech campus in 1982 there friendship and professional relationship continued through Dell's days in the NBA right up until his passing 02.
