to seize a house owned by former
Lyncburg mayor Carl Hutcherson.

The city voted five to zero to
seize this home in the 900 block of
Taylor Street ... it's owned by
Hutcherson and his brother Gerard.

The house is in serious disrepair
and officials say required repairs have
not been made.

The law allows the city to seize
blighted property if it's a public
safety and health risk.

The housing authority says
Hutcherson has been trying to sell the
property with no success.

The city will now try to reach an
agreement with the Hutchersons on what
a fair price for the property is.

Blacksburg.

A Walmart spokesperson confirmed
yesterday that the company is
considering a site in Blacksburg, but
would not say where.

Properties of Ohio will build a Walmart
store on South Main Street.

The second big indicator came
from a town planner.

While sifting through hundreds of
pages of documents, the staff member
discovered a tiny reference to Walmart

Valley View Mall in Roanoke met to
figure out what to do with teens at the
mall.

Valley View has become a babysitting
service of sorts on weekends.

We're told nothing concrete came out
of yesterday's meeting with the mayor,

but both sides agreed to meet again in
the future.

The police department also reported
the number of incidents at the mall is
actually down compared to last year.

is investigating the death of a
one-year-old girl ....

A call to 9-1-1 brought ambulance
crews to her babysitter's house at 123
Briar Hill Drive in Fieldale yesterday
morning.

Investigators say the
babysitter's nine-year-old daughter was
playing with Jayda Easley when she
noticed the child was not breathing
porperly.


The baby died a short time later
while under medical treatment.

There's no suggestion of any
negligence or wrongdoing.
