Some breaking news out of
Rockbridge County.

The town of Goshen is without
water.

County officials have declare a
state of local emergenyc. As many as
900 residents have been without water
since this morning.

The state is sending about four
thousand gallons of water to the Goshen
firehouse tonight.

Emergency officials say a leak in
the water system is the source of the
problem.

Crews are repairing the leak as
we speak.

It could be repaired by six
tonight.

We'll continue to bring you more
information as it becomes available.

super strong.

So what really makes a storm
severe? Brent Watts takes us Beyond the
Forecast.

a bit confused as to why no warning is
issued for your area.

While any storm can be dangerous,
it takes a certain set of criteria for
the National Weather Service in
Blacksburg to consider a storm severe.

Hail up to 3/4" (dime size) or
greater, Winds at 58mph or above, and
of course tornadoes. What you might not
realize is that lightning and excessive
rainfall are not on that list.

That's because lightning and
heavy rain can occur with just about
any storm.

Once the warnings are issued by
the National Weather Service, they come
directly into TITAN's storm tracking
software, where we can show them to you
on the air.

The criteria for Severe Storms
dates all the way back to the 1950s. It
was created for the aviation industry
as a way to prevent significant damage
to aircraft.

Commissioners office maybe putting
pressure on Jason Giambi to cooperate
with Major League Baseballs Special
investigator George Mitchell.

VO-NAT If the New York Yankees slugger

doesn't agree to talk with Mitchell
then Bud Selig is heading towards
suspending Giambi.

The Commisioner wants a decision
by Tuesday. Earlier this season Giambi
said he was wrong for using that stuff,
but never refered to Steriods
specifically.

But in leaked Grand Jury

Testimony that the San Francisco
Chronicle published. Giambi admitted
to using steriods and Human Growth
Hormone. Giambi is currently on the
Disabled List.

GRAPHIC=Noen NASA says the computers that

control parts of the international
space station are nearly back to
normal, after a major system failure
yesterday.

VO-NAT The Russian computers operate the

station's oxygen and water supplies and
its orientation.

Scientists aren't sure what went
wrong. They say they've never seen that
type of failure before.

Russian scientists have worked on
the problem overnight and have
re-established some communication with
the computers. They're still doing
"clean up" work to get the rest of the
system up and running.

NASA believes the problem was
electrical, rather than a glitch in the
software.
