The building has been closed

Norris Hall is reopening for
engineering offices and laboratories,

Engineering labs will be used in

With over a million Palestinians in
Gaza caught in a web of

uncertainty.two rival governments are
maneuvering to consolidate power.

The radical group Hamas remains in
control on the ground, but it is

Fatah that has the support of the
international community, including the

U-S and Israel. Over the weekend, a
new emergency government was

installed with no Hamas representation.

(Sot: Ehud Olmert, Israeli Prime
Minister )

"I promised the Palestinians that our
government would consider the new

Palestinian government free of any

Hamas people as a genuine partner."

(Belton bridge/Washington DC)

The Israeli Prime Minister is in
Washington for talks today on the

Middle East crisis. Many expect the
U-S and Israel to formulate a plan

that bolsters Fatah with economic aid
and isolates Hamas.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is
certainly in favor of that. In a

phone conversation with President Bush
today..Abbas said now is the time

to resume stalled middle east peace
talks.

(natz)

Meanwhile, the European Union has
welcome news for the emergency

government now in place ... promising
this morning to restore millions

in aid.

(Sot: Javier Solana/European Union
Foreign Policy Chief)

"we cannot at this time let down the
Palestinian people who live in

Gaza."

(natz)

At the Gaza border crossings.. finally
some hope. A group of

Palestinians was permitted to cross
over from Egypt after being stranded

for a week. And Israel began allowing
fuel deliveries into Gaza.

But for the most part, the borders
remain closed.. while Israel and the

rest of the world. decides how to deal
with Hams a group that remains

committed to the destruction of the
Jewish state.

future."

It's the latest in a recent
series of sometimes inconsistent
comments from Bryant about whether he
wants to stay in Los Angeles.

The nine-time All Star has four
years left on his contract --but he can
terminate it following the 2008-09
season.

back on post in the fall.

Williams had declared for the
draft, but did not sign with an agent
and will now pull his name out.

The Prince George native was the

TNT To the Irish Hills of :00 Michigan we go where just before the
halfway point, Jeff Green provided the
love tap to Ryan Newman, who rode the
merry go round.

Martin Truex, Jr., Matt Kenseth,
and Brian Vickers were all a little
dinged up as the caution waved.

It was another bad effort for
Denny Hamlin's team in the pits. This
stop cost the FedEx team valuable
seconds and he wound up 14th.

And Tony Raines finished in the
back after cutting across the track and
getting clipped in the rear.

There was no such trouble for
Edwards who made his 100th Cup start.
He made it one to remember outlasting
the field, holding off a host of
Chevys, including Truex who was strong
all day. Edwards took the checkered
flag breaking a 52 race winless streak.

A Japanese aquarium displayed
what it believes to be the first giant
manta ray to be born in captivity.

The aquarium said the female was
born late Saturday after a year-long
pregnancy.

She came into the world rolled up
like a tube and measuring
six-feet-long.

An aquarium official says little
is known about the life of manta rays,
and the birth, which was filmed, will

offer much information.

The mother was netted off Okinawa
and has been living in the aquarium for
nearly a decade.
