early.

Aaron Paul Gray was not ready to
admit wrong-doing -- but today...the
day before trial was set to begin, Gray
pled "no contest" to first degree
murder and a firearms charge in the
death of Karen Elkins last Fall.

A jogger stumbled upon the
victim's body in late October.

We still don't know why Elkins
was shot.

sixth-straight day.

has been without water since early
Thursday when a leak was discovered in
the water system.

Crews have been working on the
problem, but as soon as it seems like
they've repaired it- another leak
springs up.

The state's Secretary of Public
Safety and the Regional Emergency
Management Coordinator were in the area
today to help out but residents are
frustrated and patience is wearing
thin....even as the county is giving
out bottled water and another tractor
trailer-full is being brought in
tonight.

the Virginia Tech Review Panel now has
a tape recording and transcripts of
Seung-Hui Cho's mental health hearing.

In 2005, the special justice in
Montgomery County ruled that Cho was a
danger to himself and ordered him to
get outpatient treatment. We don't know
whether Cho ever received treatment.

Privacy laws have stymied the
panel's efforts to obtain the records

Governor Kaine signed an
executive order allowing the panel to
use subpoena power to obtain records.

Virginia Tech already has
given Cho's school counseling records
to the panel after getting permission
from his family.

city housing authority hasn't followed
through on its plan to condemn and
re-develop the area along Williamson
Road and Jefferson Street... and it's

costing them money.

Williamson Road, a few blocks from
Community Hospital.

According to a lawsuit filed
Friday, the Roanoke Redevelopment and
Housing Authority included the property
in the 2001 South Jefferson
Redevelopment Area.

Later that year, the Housing
Authority offered 725-thousand dollars
for the property but withdrew the offer
four months later.

The Stegall's lawyers say
the housing authority's lack of
follow-through has left them unable to
sell or rent the property.

In an email, the housing
authority would not talk about this
case.

It did say the organization

is proceeding with the development plan
as funding is made available by the
city.

GRAPHIC=CRIME Pulaski authorities spent the day

rounding up drug dealers.

The Pulaski/Radford Regional Drug
task force arrested 37 people on 118
indictments this morning.

The arrests mark the end of an
eight-month investigation on mid-level
crack and cocaine dealers in our area.

The last round-up handled by the
task force was in September.

It led to 42 arrests.

interchange to get used to.

The new Toms Creek Bridge opened

for the first time today.

It's part of a new bypass over
Route 460.

You can reach the bridge from the
east bound lanes, but it will be a few
more weeks before west-bound traffic on
Route 460 will be able to use the
interchange.

The project is about half a
million dollars under budget and two
weeks ahead of schedule.

Under a new partnership with
V-DOT, town employees handled the
entire construction project.

Valley Horse Show comes to town the
number of animals, riders and fans is
always large but there's one person
that the show would never go on
without.

John Bare is the farrier for the
Roanoke Valley Horse Show, which
basically means he is the man in charge
of making sure the horses have their
shoes and anything else they might need
on their hooves.

Last year for the week, Bare took
care of almost a hundred horses and
many times he's needed on a moment's
notice.
