We understand the problem was caused
by two hardware failures in the state's
central computer system.
As a result, the crash disrputed work
at several state agencies, not just the
D-M-V.
We're told the glitch should be fixed
by tonight.

an old tactic.

Air, Land and Speed" to Interstate 81,
along with I-77 between the North
Carolina line and Fort Chiswell.
State Police hope the extra
patrols will reduce traffic accidents

been charged with felony assault-and-
battery on a police officer.

traffic stop in downtown Roanoke last

people in Goshen to stop using as much
water as possible while crews try to
figure out what's wrong.
The town's been without reliable
water service for a week.
The governor authorized the
National Guard to help fix the problem.

Friday Health officials say the
outage could last several more days.
The Virginia Department of
Health says state and local crews are
working around the clock to find and
fix the problems. So far, eight leaks
have been found and repaired. Once
service is restored, the health
department expects a boil-water

tests show that water is safe.
Thousands of gallons of bottled
water have been trucked into town.
Water tankers are also available for
non-drinking uses.

waiting to get to work inside the shell
of the burned-out warehouse in
Charleston where nine firefighters
died.

An Assistant fire chief says the
fatal fire started in a trashbin
outside the furniture warehouse and
quickly spread through an open door.
Investigators have not been able
to determine the official cause of the
blaze, the caved-in roof is making it

a long way from home is Drew Weaver.
The rising junior is playing across the
pond in the British Amatuer and doing
pretty well. He shot a 2-under par
second round to advance to the match
play portion. Weaver is one of only 64
