knows the city well.

Rita Bishop will return to
Roanoke from Lancaster, Pennsylvania
where she has served as superintendent
for the last three years.

now pitching in to get water to a
Rockbridge County community.

helping distribute water around the
town of Goshen.

The area's been without
reliable water since last week.

State, local and private
crews have been trying to repair broken
water lines around the system, but as
soon as one's fixed, another turns up.

In the meantime, thousands
of gallons of bottled water and several
water tankers have been brought in.

Portable showers and laundry
facilities have also arrived.

the city has made great strides in its
efforts to make City Hall more
accessible to those with handicaps.

on Friday--and a landing at its second

choice--but NASA got the Space Shuttle
Atlantis back on the ground safely.

With bad weather kicking around the
Kennedy Space Center for two
days--mission

control decided California was the
place the astronauts oughta be, so they

made a picture perfect touchdown at
Edwards Airforce Base.

The seven astronauts--a little stiff

weeks seemed to be in pretty good

six months in space--she's a little

continent gathered to pay tribute to
nine firemen who died in a warehouse
fire there this week.

The only problem was that the drama

The Cars for Gordon and Johnson failed
the initial inspection process by
Nascar and were parked in the garage,
not allowed to qualify or practice.

A Nascar spokesman said both the
24 and 48 had front fenders that were
outside the parameters of the templates
built by Nextel Cup officials.

The Teams went to work and fixed
the problem, they did go through
inspection a second time, there is a
possiblity that Nascar will let them

the first Roankoke Valley Horse Show
for course designer Alan Wade and Ring
master Albert Sabrsula.

Growing up in Ireland, the son of
a successful rider, Wade decided to
design courses rather than compete on
them, and with each course comes a lot
of planning.

After spending six months coming
up with ideas for the courses Wade
finally gets to see competition in them
